For SFO specifically: 2100 gross base
+ 90 euros * ~17 flying days per month = 1530 gross
+ 45 euros * ~45 sectors per month = 2030 gross

The sum is around 5600 per month. If no TR deduction and PJN 3100 is true,it means the tax in EEC must around 50% which is huge.Unless i am missing something with life and loss of licence insurance cost. :8

One thing that nobody mentions, is that Per Diems aren't for everyone - they are only applicable in specific country, usually the ones with higher taxes, and often they replace the pay for first two sectors on that day. So, you will get a more accurate figure NOT taking them into account, only the base + sector pay.

The salary on PJN is very very basic. Dont forget you have to deduct the bonding if you are bonded. The types of bonding also vary, some for 3 years, some for 2 and some for 1.

Regarding per diems, for one duty day you get a fixed per diem rate depending if the coutry you are living in uses this. And as far as I know they do not replace the first 2 sectors.

Also the sectors you fly in a month vary depending on where you are based,
but 30-40 is most definitely an accurate figure. And if you are in a base with lots of short routes this might be even more.

When you start you will get a training salary of 1000 eu gross/month. But the company sort out hotel/transportation during training and line training. This at least takes way some of the financial pressure, knowing that there is another low cost company that lets you sort out these things yourself.

Hope this clears up some questions....

Hi guys,

I am working in smartlynx right now, and thinking to apply for wizzair. I am interested in it only if I will get base in Riga. Otherwise I am fully satisfied with smartlynx. Would be nice if someone could give recent info regarding employment contract in wizz.

What salary should I expect if I fly from Riga (FO 500h on A320) is it easy to get base in Riga?
What type of contracts they offer for FO? Do they have self-employed contract? Do you have insurances in contracts? Do they pays taxes for you?

Thanks in advance.

dirk85 3rd Jan 2018 14:28

Riga is very easy to get, they are always very short of pilots there.

You can have at your choice either a local or a confair contract. In case of local contract local social security (and also taxes I believe, this can slightly change from country to country) are paid there for you.

I do not have the details of the salary, but due to the position RIX it is one of the bases with fewer sectors, so the salary is not the best, but once SFO you can expect something between 2500 and 3000, closer to 3000 probably, net.

Quick questions regarding the sim assessment for NTR F/O:
- what airport is being used?
- is the PF taking left seat during the session?
- what system of plates being used (LIDO, Aerad, Jeppesen or else)?
- is the candidate taking off?
- if the candidate is taking off, is it with or without FDs and A/THR?

Many thanks for all answers!

NON-TR Cadet Recruitment

Hi guys,

I'm thinking of applying and have a few questions on top of what I've read:

- For cadet FO's what do the assessments consist of? (the same as FO: ATPL test, group assessment, 2 interviews, and sim?)

-If a sim is required is it sensible to spend money on an A320 session? (I have a B738 MCC+JOC)

- Which bases are you likely to get with the current climate at Wizz? I'm assuming Budapest/ Luton is highly unlikely?

- From what I've gathered starting pay (without taking into account TR deductions) is about 2500Eur Gross? any estimates on net take home if based in an Eastern European country?

-I've heard worrying rumors of a few people being dumped off the TR course with the bill still to pay if they mess up with no second chances? (hopefully this wouldn't apply to me though)

Anything else I should know about?

Thanks! :)

Lexsis 7th Jan 2018 18:41

1. Assessment is the same for FO yes.

2. I had the same as you, I had a couple of hours on a A320 sim to prepare a bit and it helped, I can recommend it.

3. Off course all those Brits want the Luton base, but they generally still need a few people there. Budapest Im not so sure. Gdansk, Katowice, Cluj, Bucharest, Iasi, Kutaisi, Riga, Wroclaw and Warsaw are all possibilities for starters.

4. I believe the pay is a bit more from what I've heard from other people, but it really depends on your base, bonding, taxes etc. very generally speaking you can expect around 2100-2300 net after the TR deduction. Really depends on how many sectors you fly a month as well. After the bonding you will get 415 gross a month more. But dont pin me down on exact numbers.

5. No idea about this one, but it sounds unfair and with the amount of people they need I'd be surprised, everyone deserves a second chance. 3rd chance, not so sure...

Goodluck!

Thanks for the reply Lexsis, very informative. Out of interest did you get the job?

I'm keen to hear of anyone else's experiences throughout the process with Wizz Air as well. :)

Lexsis 8th Jan 2018 10:43

As a matter of fact I did ;)

Hi guys,
I m a cs 25 turboprop pilot with an ATPL and 1700TT
According to the base, taxe, bond etc I can expect a salary of more and less 3500 net as a SFO ? quite low but not the worst...
Do you know if the JOC is still a mandatory to be applied ? on the wizz website yes but on sigma no ?
12000 EUR for the airbus TR is not so bad ...
I m quite afraid about the personnel life for a western pilot, does anyone can share his/ her experience ( rent flat, commuting, etc...)

Shocking salary!!!!

It's always the same story, it depends from which point of view you look at things.

Not the biggest salary for an A320 FO I agree but far far from the lowest ones you can find even in western europe...

Banana Joe 12th Jan 2018 09:19

Is the TR or part of it to be paid upfront by the candidate or do they offer a complete bond?

dirk85 12th Jan 2018 09:36

I have been SFO in wizzair and the average salary was nowhere close to those numbers. Probably a record month, or a base like Gdansk, or both.

ludosky350 12th Jan 2018 09:43

So it's been a long time since you left Dirk...

Respect to you for just showing it like that! Finally someone who is not afraid to give direct figures, hopefully some of the people who keep yelling that the pay is nowhere near that will be quiet now.... times change...

Personally I could easily live with those SFO figures, so probably also able to live from lower figures as a new FO. And I really don't get whats so shocking about it, you live in Eastern Europe, prices and cost of living are generally lower there. It's like some people are comparing apples with pears as we have the saying in Holland.

Btw: looking at those figures it looks like the Confair figures, I believe a local contract also got per diems and little higher sector pay aswell.

dirk85 12th Jan 2018 18:59

95 hours per month makes 1140 hours per year, any idea what average really means? The maximum is 900 hours per year. That's more than 20% of difference right there.

I left in 2017, not in 2007, taking the full 2016 as an example I flew 898 hours, and averaged, including per diems, deducted swiss taxes and social security, slightly short of 3000 net.

And if you are resident anywhere other than the country where you are based (for example if you are commuter or has a family back home) you have to pay on top of that taxes in your own country.

Make your own calculations.

Confair get paid slightly more, because the agency do not pay social security, because you are supposed to do it yourself. I would not brag about the fact that you did not, like all the Confair guys do. Ever heard the word pension, parental leave, sick pay?

Bragging about 4000 GROSS a month is the most laughable thing I heard all week, you made my day, thank you.
