It is a minimum of 75 sectors during line training.

Once employment commences as a JFO basic goes up to £18,400 + £25.60 per BH + 500 allowance + 460 bonus

How long is the progress between JFO & FO / SFO & what do you know is the pay scales then?

Those figures are per year.

I’m not sure what SFO pay is at the moment, but I believe to be eligible it’s 1500 hours RYR time.

RYR record in winning court cases is laughable, recently they were ordered to reinstate crew and pay them a hefty compensation for unfair dismissal in Spain, they can sue what they want as it would entail speaking the truth, which they usually don’t my friend.

No flying is guaranteed after finishing LT. Expect little to no hours over winter, contract potentially from April 2022. Note this is UNPAID time off...

Here's my advice, as everyone else is handing them out.

If you have the money, if you can afford to invest long term (1-2 years) and understand you will have to find a different form of income meanwhile, then go for it.

Ryanair aggressive strategy is to bounce back as soon as the travel restrictions are removed and people are let out again.
They did that on a smaller scale during the first lockdown, they kept the crew and planes flying so that by July we all got back flying without having to wait for maintenance checks or crew training.

Ryanair wants to be the number one player in Europe, covid is unfortunately helping with the demise of many competitors airlines.
They don't want to wait for crew to be trained to fly the planes, they want to have pilots rated and ready to go ahead of time.

The market is full of experienced guys, but Ryanair has never been too keen on them, they much prefer cadets.
Financially they are cheaper by paying the training and a lower PSBH.
Also by training them internally, the process usually goes smoother and we have less issues/delays on line training.

Wizzair is planning the same, but I don't know their modus operandi and won't comment.I can quite safely say that the legacy airlines won't be expanding anytime soon, instead they will likely restructure the airline to survive on state aids. The likes of easyJet, Jet2 will have a hard time and hopefully they won't end up like Norwegian.

I would rather put some money in now and be ready when we come out of it, instead of waiting and then join the queue of applicants in two years time.

My opinion, and i'm sure all the Ryanair bitter pilots on here wont waste time and turn this in the usual bagarre.

Do also consider things may not be so bad in 1 - 2 years and opportunities will arise that don't require such a leap of faith. You'll all get there in the end, just do it with your future in mind.

This about sums things up, iome. RYR will not repeat the mistake of 2017, when flying opportunities were abundant but there were no sufficient crews which led to flight cancellations and pilots being asked to volunteer to work during their annual vacations for extra pay. Now, they will make sure that enough crews are trained and ready ahead of time. Why it will be largely cadets instead of experienced guys and girls has already been detailed an uncountable number of times. Cost and standardisation, in a nutshell.

So, as long as you are under the clear understanding that this is a long-term investment and you do not do something stupid like putting mortgage on the family home without having a sound alternative source of income, you're probably good to go. If that's where you see yourself for the coming years - fantastic. If not - well, you can always wait for other opportunities. There will be other opportunities, no matter how bad it might look now.

Aviation collapses. Passenger revenue drops to the floor. Meanwhile you have just opened this type rating centre to train your own pilots in. This training centre has high fixed costs and it'd be a shame to let it stand idly by, pandemic or no pandemic.

What would you do? Keep its doors closed and admit there's a pandemic and 0 requirement for years to come, or open the doors and invite everyone in charging 30k a head? The later allows you to cover all the fixed costs with a hefty profit remaining, which can be used to offset the record low passenger revenue.

Your 30k is offsetting a fraction of the record low demand, anyone denying this is blind to the reality. This training centre is not a 'partner', it is owned by Ryanair. Why give 25k to CAE when you can earn it yourself? This rating they are giving you is costing them peanuts. What is going on here could not be clearer.

Look, I know what it's like to have your license in hand post training, desperate to fly, but this route is an illusion, it is a mirage created by Ryanair to fill their pockets with your money at a time that they cannot get any passengers to give them their money. Attached is some loose promise of a job in years to come. Guys, tread carefully, for your own sake, because as was pointed out, by the time Ryanair do actually need you there will be other opportunities open with not such an insulting contract.
