Don't forget CTC buddy. Keep ALL your options open given your age. How about cadets and RAF?

For sure all options open, forgot about CTC and RAF would be a last choice.

AED 6000 is the salary to be paid during training right? £800 a moth isn't going to get you a lot over there if it is a salary, even it is tax free!

What is the GCAA licence, I can't imagine it isn't as respected as a JAA one, what is the conversion process like?

If your thinking your gonna be able to train with Etihad and then simply walk away to a different region it isnt gonna happen I'm afraid. They will be expecting loyalty and to be fair once your over there I don't think you'd actually contemplate coming back. It's lovely! (no doubt the salaries are massive too)

As for license authorities it isn't a case of respect or the like it's more to do with procedures et al. Conversions are possible and shouldn't be too expensive I'd have thought. Probably a few grand.

With regards to salary it'd be very nice to get paid whilst you train. Most of us are having to live on savings or go asking the banks for loans. Be grateful for small mercies my friend

Talking Just fill as you can!

Don't worry buddy! Just fill in all the required information. I am sure that they won't consider you inadequate for the job because of a coma or because you were no able to insert NA in their form. I spend a really loooong time between yesterday and today filling their form too!!!
Had even to do it as Cadet Pilot because there is no other way within their web page for an experienced pilot to apply as FO to the company... and as far as I am concerned that is the only way to apply .

If they choose you for an interview it will be because of your experience and maybe because the guy or girl who reads your name likes it!!! and decides to drop you a line or give you a call!!

Good luck man!

2008 and continuing for the forseeable future. If you read Flight International (get it free at work woohoo lol) there are substantially more details. The first group has already started but I believe this might have been in addition to the others they are looking for by means of the new scheme

Well, I have applied two days ago...hopefully they are sifting through the massive paper chase as this seems to have been spread pretty wide....over the river and through the woods to Etihad we go!

WOW... the first new fully sponsored cadet program since... what... 1963? The only thing that's keeping me from hitting the 'submit' button is lack of information on a few critical things.

So... what we don't know:
Assessment -> E.g. where will it be, what to expect & how to get there?

Fleet -> What will the cadets start on? AFAIK Etihad operates all sorts of Airbusses + 777-300ERs... long haul right away?! Normal roster + F/O salary as seen on PPJN?

Base -> Is this a ticket to the desert or would it be possible to be based in say FRA or LHR? (which would make this even more interesting)

What we know:
- 18 month ATPL course in the UAE
- UAE CPL IR + frozen ATPL
- Bonded for 6 yrs after training
- Company will pay AED 500k (€85k / GBP 65k) for training (complete cost?)
- Company will pay AED 6k (€1k / GBP 800) per month during training
- Accomodation included

Well, if anybody can find additional details on this - please be so kind and post it here!!

Edit... googled a bit. It seems the training facility will be Horizon Internat'l Flight Academy, located at Al Ain: http://www.horizonuae.ae/introduction.php

And here's a short article from Flight Global: http://www.flightglobal.com/articles...et-scheme.html

Some of the website is and some isn't for me.

Guys.. have you seen the pay though?!

The FO pay for Etihad equates to about £6000 sterling per year. Not good if you ever wanted to move back over here!!!

SpamFritters: The job description states that whilst in training, cadet pilots will be given a salary of AED6000 per month - roughly 800 quid.

If you do a job search for flight crew and click on one of the FO listings, you'll be able to see details of first officer salary etc.

Bear in mind, upon the completion of training cadet pilots will be given the position of second officers and not FOs!

Cadet Pilot Scheme

Dear Gentlemen the 12 cadets have already been selected. Interviews had been conducted over the past few days. This program is only open to those currently working in Etihad or those who are children of EY employees. Perhaps in the distant future you may be selected. Have a nice day.

Well it would make sense that Etihad employees kids got first go, you have to look after your own. But then what was the point of calling it a global scheme if it is only internal?

If this were really the case, I would at least expect Etihad to contact all applicants and inform them of this... or even just update the application status on their careers website?! hmmmm

Guys are you all really that stupid to listen to this bafoon by the name of 'poison'.

We are talking about an internationally recognised company here, who sponsor the likes of Chelsea FC and Ferrari F1.

Even if it was the case that the 12 cadets had been selected (which I firmly believe it is not), they would have at least sent system generated emails telling the rest of us that we have been unsuccessful.

Another member of this forum contacted the Etihad Head Office and they informed him that they scheme may infact be delayed by a month or so, most probably due to the large quantity of people applying.

So obviously the final 12 have NOT been selected yet, otherwise they would have told him so.

Wow Im amazed at the confidence and arrogance of some of you guys!
Not only do you want a cadetship, you also want overseas basing!

Take a reality check folks...this is a great opportunity for some of you, something you wont get at home...but dont push your luck!

In house candidates are being interviewed/selected at the moment, the rest will follow.
Good luck
