VHF1....
Not very accurate, I have flown with folks who did the Tr recently and are now employed on various deals. I can name 6 or 7 who are there right now.

fade to grey,

please do not try to pass off your experience as a fact of life, dont dare try and tell me that my account is not accurate. 7 of us did the rating, 1 guy dropped out due to a job offer, 6 finished the rating and all were promised line training. we all called and were constantly told we would be getting the line training, until, suprise suprise, we would have to pay over more money 4 further sim training. what it amounted to was this. we were promised 1 thing after another...none of which were delivered on....

so, heres the bottom line, either ashtrays r us took our money and had good intentions to follow through but didnt..... breach of contract

VHF1,
I am not trying to pass anything off......the originator of the thread wanted to know the current situation and I replied.
the FACT is simple,as I said,There are quite a few Bond trainees flying the line on the 757 right now, employed by AEU,
I don't know your circumstances, I don't know what you were offered or not as the case may be.

However, aviation is a small world and I would be careful of throwing phrases like 'breach of contract' around indescriminately.

Care to elaborate ?

It's sad to hear of what has happened, but if you are living quite happily away from aviation, why are you wasting time on an aviation related public forum?

Just so you know, i did TR last year and still not able to secure line training! I know at least two guys from courses 3 monnths before mine that still havent done it either!
And the excuse about Baa passes is crap. If I got a job with an airline tomorrow I would have A pass pretty quickly! I think 4 months takes the piss, good delaying tactic though!!!

I think you'll find you took out a contract with Bond Aviation Solutions NOT Astraeus Ltd. AEU do not organise or run TRTO training in any form - they just supply the trainers and a/c.

Has anybody been employed under the bond aviation type courses to Astraeus on either the 737 or 757 on a short term or long term basis.
Two have just been taken on - one on the 73, one on the 75. This will add to the 10+ already employed by AEU...and they are under absolutley no obligation to offer any employment to these students at all.

To give credit where credit's due, I know of at least 4 students from my FTO that have been taken on by Astraeus in the last year and a half after completing their SSTR with Bond.

More out of hope than anything else:

Does anybody have an idea as to if Astraeus are recruiting? And if indeed they are, does anyone have any idea as to how many pilots they are looking to recruit?

Cheers,
AD

Astraeus / Flystar TRTO Training Scheme

Hi all.

I've heard that Astraeus/Flystar are setting up a new TRTO, with TR's on B737, B757/767 and A319/20/21. If you take the Base Training, MCC and JOC options you'd end up spending £30K. Anyone know anymore about this? As standard, they don't promise a job at the end of it but say it's more than possible...

We are inching out of recession, so such a scheme could kick start a career for newly qualified pilots like myself. But is it ANOTHER £30K thrown away?

It does indeed run the real risk of becoming just that.

Their are number of TRTO's offering type ratings and some line flying. Take it for what it is.

Perhaps as things improves, many employers maybe requiring more self funded type ratings and as such, this is a revenue stream or similar.

Had a friend who entered into a type rating scheme and 150 hours line training 2 years ago with no employment promises with the operator. He finished and since then went back to his previous career.

Personally I would only consider paying towards a type rating if an employer has offered me a position and I am being trained by them and learning their SOP's / operations etc. Otherwise its just another course with generic stuff etc.
