Have a sex change (male to female) in order to benefit from 'positive discrimination'. Cheaper than a TR and probably more likely to get you that job.

Why stop there? Spray yourself up in a minority colour, chop a leg off and wear a dungaree (you'll only need one leg!). That should do all of their quotas some good.

Try to make sure the one of the interviewers is not someone you have failed on a line check in a previous company!!!!!!

This happened to a mate of mine. he got the job, but guess who he got for his line check!

Grin when the interviewer looks at the pilot you are to replace and says "F'ing hell, he's wearing a tie!".

Most airlines these days prefer candidates to have lumpy jumpers!

Interview stuff

I have a final 'one-to-one' interview for a cadet sponsorship coming up but I'm a little unsure as to what to expect to be asked, being my first final interview for an airline job. In peoples past interview experience, is it likely to be company info, technical aircraft questions or all about you as a person and how you will 'fit in' or a mixture of all of these?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Matt

Interview stuff

I have a technical interview coming up in 10 days.
Apparently, what they are looking for is good understanding of physics concepts relating to ATPL stuff (Flight mechanics, electricity....).
Does anyone know any interesting books or links with questions and explainations?
Or any ATPL notes/summaries on the net?

Thanks

Winch

Hi

Try this book: Ace the Technical Pilot Interview by Gary v Bristow. It's excellent.

Good luck.

That's not a unanimous opinion: read this.

Ooops. Should have said "I have been told it's excellent." Clearly not. Thanks for the advice. Haven't read it myself, and now won't bother!

"Handling the big jets" by David Davies - It's probably what the examiners read or try "Flight without formulae" AC Kermode. As for improving your maths quickly, go to Waterstones or Blackwells and throw yourself on their mercy. I generally find them very helpful when given a challenge (But I'm not suggesting that your maths is that bad!).

This was covered here recently (but now moved to Tech Log).

There was also a discussion in Fragrant Harbour Wannabes - here.

From what I remember -

Errors in the lift equation.

Typo/misprint calling Sector 2, Sector 3 (Or vice versa) in the holding pattern diagram.

Refers to MDA as Minimum Decision Altitude, though strangely gets it right later in the book.

What I want to know is (like you) all the one's I haven't spotted and will no doubt knowledgably spout in an interview!

Cool Interview stuff

Hiya,
Its been a while since the ATPL groundschool so was wondering if anyone can reccomend a good resource for preapring for a generic interview. Something that would contain POF, basic Perf A etc and all other bits likely to be asked at an interview. I know every interview is different just want to really brush up on technical stuff!!
Cheers
