Britannia 737 Job Advert in Flight International - Details?
I just read the Britannia advert in the back of Flight International. It claims that a new 737 operation will be started up in the "heart of England." Are we talking Britannia 737-800s formerly used on charter service? Are we talking about Manchester or East Midlands?
Anyone know about starting time or any more details? Any Britannia pilots out there know any details - how about proposed routes?

Coventry? Interesting. I wonder what the interest will be among current Britannia crews? I bet the salaries will be low... What about proposed routes?

Interestingly enough, it looks like if you were to join this operation as a "low houred" pilot, you would get around £13k more basic salary than if you joined "main line".
Of course you would have to bring a 737 type rating with you and the pension is worth 2/5ths of **** all.
On the bright side, I understand that this operation is to be regarded a seperate fleet and not a seperate airline and so you would join the main brit seniority list. This is however not gospel, but it's worth asking the question if you were to apply.

Chinchaser - got a feeling several 10's of thousands of Mancunians may take you up on MAN's proximity to the heart of england 
MSE on the other hand is closer to France than London and is considering a yet another name change to Paris - Manston (North)

Not so. I gather the company would like all the Captains to come from the mainline F.O force, but very few were interested.
I hear no low hour (<1500 hrs) pilots are being sought. If you joined mainline as an F.O. the total package would be worth nearly double the LowCost.
In all, the only selling point may be a quick command, then again you are at the bottom of a big seniority list, with no final salary pension.

I would say that you are nearer to the truth with regards interest in Brit F/O's as per the NOF. the big disasdvantage to those of us in mainline is that the package is well below that we currently enjoy, plus most do not wish to 'downsize' the company chariot. the real carrot is an early command, but that still had too many strings for this Chin.
to those who are coming in though from the outside i would say that the big benefit is joining on the Brit seniority list in a strong BALPA airline. It certainly is being regarded it seems as a seperate fleet NOT a seperate airline, however there are strings attached to when one can and how, bid over to mainline.
Even if the current poilcy remains as per T/R + hrs, ( low cost therefore low training budget) remember that as we suck in from other carriers so places open up elsewhere and the merry go round keeps turning. Recently i have talked to a number of guys in other low cost carriers who are very keen to join Brit, in the short term the life style will be similar but in the long run you are in as they say!!

They don't have a separate website as the new operation is actually operating as a separate fleet under the mainline AOC with different terms and conditions.
