It would appear that there are only 3 Duty Officers and 1 crew records left "upstairs".talk of mob's demise are wrong he was spotted coming into "work" this morning in his shinny little lexus.the 748 and ATP parked in Liverpool have both had vehicles parked so they cant be moved.

Jenson Button 16th May 2006 18:39

Have the 748 and ATP crew been made redundant ?:suspect:

turbotrash 16th May 2006 19:01

Not yet...

ATP Cabin Crew went today, as yet ATP pilots still there.

As far as I know, 748 Pilots not laid off yet either.

No official word regarding what the plan is. Everyone seems to be letterbox watching waiting to see when & where the axe will fall next.

Say again s l o w l y 16th May 2006 19:12

weneedpilots,
Emerald has been kept afloat this long despite MOB, rather than because of him.

I have never seen less competent management, his ability to completely bu**er things up is quite astonishing. How can you take a company with good long term contracts, little or no debt, low operating costs and over heads and kill it in such a short period of time?

It defies belief. I witnessed Ops, crewing, pilots and engineers perform miracles to keep the show on the road and they have been repaid by having their livelihoods destroyed because of one man's utter incompetance.

Yes there have been a couple of incidents recently, but these are human error compunded by the environment at Emerald. No accident has a single cause, so simply blaming crew mistakes is taking an incredibly naive and uneducated view on the causes.

I know the Shed crews have had their letters, but is there any word about the 748 and ATP crews? Is it all over, or can the pheonix rise from the smouldering ashes.

What's the betting the CAA will refuse to let MOB be the accountable manager anymore, if he has somehow kept his position.

If he is still there, he must have some good polaroids of AJ.

We were all GEM's as it was the only way this company survived for so long. The good will which pilots demonstrated and rarely repaid. You were only as good as your next flight. Short memories some guys.

It's dead easy, and can't all be blamed on the Mobster

The Company actually made a sensible strategic decision - that the 748s and Sheds will not fly for ever and they needed to be replaced over a period of time. However they completely messed up the implementation of this strategy by

a) a stupid decision to relaunch passenger services and as a result
b) trying to bring in too many ATPs at once
c) being penny wise pound foolish - spending less on the ATPs they actually bought and then having to spend a fortune on converting them
d) Allowing a "mini-me" version of the Mobster to run Blackpool, and making a poorly run operation worse
e) Selling out the ATPs to customers and then finding the planes weren't ready for months - so contracts were either lost or Emerald had to run them at a loss (via a combination of 748s and Sheds)
f) winning contracts without a thought of how they were going to be crewed, serviced etc (eg Paris-Vienna)

Bottom line is that the company would have gone under in 4-5 years (or had to sell to a competitor) without bring newer aircraft in, but the cack-handed way they went about this hastened its demise. Sadly, the staff, and some of the small businesses which serviced the company (who are even lower down the creditor list than the employees) will be the ones that suffer most.

flying_tyger 17th May 2006 11:08

Best of luck to all to all at Emerald - ive worked with you guys flight managing the russians in LPL a few times with your ops and its been a pleasure. I was sorry to hear about this.

Good luck for the future.

icarus5 17th May 2006 21:23

Lovaduck I cannot believe that you excuse the mobster and then list all the wrong decisions he has made.

Apart from the facts that he is incompetent(100%),Paranoid(200%),Control freak(300%),autocratic (400%),incredibly useless man manager(500%), he used to be a not bad ramp controller which is where he started. Examples (just a few):-

Extremely rapid turnover of senior management such as Dir of Ops, Chief Pilot, Chief Trng Pilot, Ops Manager. There is no company to match that.

How many days was Fleet manager GG able to get in the office in two years?;-less than 5. As a consequence vital amendments to SOPs and emergency checklist introduced by the CAA nearly 4 Yrs ago to prevent further fatal accidents (after the EDN pilots died) were never fully incorporated so that practically every day/hour Emerald shed pilots were flying they could have failed to react in the same manner and died likewise.Whilst the CAA action is way over the top on this issue they are correct. However, it could have been resolved very easily and quickly. Regretably, MOB never understood this.

Any one who buys ex Brit a/c off a foreign register is naive if he thinks the CAA will not crawl over it with a fine tooth comb and even more so with an ex Brit A/C with which they know all about. He was told by senior engs not to touch them but ignored this advice. As a result it has cost a huge crippling fortune taking Emerald from a successful night operator into a huge black hole where AJ in order to keep the company going had to inject 3 million into the company about a year ago.

I could go on and give numerous further examples of this self-opiniated,ignorant,obnoxious person who is hated by all who have to work close to him but I know that as usual he will brush all criticism off to AJ and if he ever does leave Emerald will be given a very big golden handshake despite the people who actually worked their backsides off wiill receive sweet fxxxny adams.

My heart goes out to all those who depended upon Emerald especially to the low paid office workers.

G-SPOTs Lost 17th May 2006 23:07

Far from a silver lining, but anybody with a Kingair Rating could do worse than dropping into next door at BLK and seeing the boss.

Best of luck chaps/esses

Trill_Flyer 18th May 2006 10:41

RIP Not In the Dark Any Longer

Well the end has finally arrived at least for me. No more 748.

Redundancy letter arrived today.

What can you say. What a good bunch of Guys to work with (not forgetting our only female Captain). We didnt deserve this after all the hard work WE ALL did.

AJ & MOB what can we say:D What a fine way to run a company.

What we would all like to say really is:mad:

Say again s l o w l y 18th May 2006 10:50

Really bad news, it sounds like it's all gone bar the shouting. I'm very sorry for all those affected.

Good luck with the job hunting.

03 headset man 18th May 2006 10:56

sorry to hear it guys you have all been shafted by the mob and deserve much better loved loading those 748s over the years will be sorry when you all go good luck:{

What Can I Say

I darent make the phone call home to see if there has been a letter arrive on our doorstep.

All I can say is that I hope AJ and MOB sleep very uneasily in their beds knowing all the families that have suffered at their incompetance and selfish greed.

It is not only the people who have given 100% who work at Emerald .. it is all the families who support them will also suffer.

Like so many posts before we can only wonder why the AOC has not been reissued ... is it again because of one mans egotistical arrogance ?

jemgirl 18th May 2006 11:15

sorry to all the guys who recieved their notices today. i know how you feel. it's been 2 days for me and it still hasn't quite sunk in. i went to sign on yesterday, 1st time in my working life, over 20 years! i have never felt so humiliated. when all this has died downand we're all over the shock who fancies meeting up for a massive p..s up.? my jobseekers allowance may just cover it. It would have been nice to receive a letter of thanks from the man at the top for all our hard work and loyalty. But then what you've never had you never miss. anyone fancy going the pub, pm me! That goes for you too suffering spouse.!!;)

Delta Wun-Wun 18th May 2006 11:21

At least you have had a letter. I was made redundant yesterday over the phone. I know at least two crew who yesterday had a letter confirming continued employment only to find out that they were in fact redundant.:D

G-SHED 18th May 2006 11:23

Well, I guess it was inevitable, and I am really sorry for all you 748 drivers, and your families. I have only met a few of you in my short career at Emerald (2 months, before my redundancy came through)! But you all seem a good bunch. There is nobody at Emerald that I met who wasn't giving their all for the company. (I never met MOB). Such a shame to see the needless demise of Emerald.

I wish you all the very best and hope you all get suitable employment in the very near future.

:ok:

I have not been an Emerald employee, but I have three friends who are/have been. You are a t**t - have a regard for all those now out of work, and stay away from this thread.

Strontium Dog 18th May 2006 12:13

Yes me too.

I am ATP flight deck.

I received a letter yesterday off KPMG confirming that my "terms & conditions of employment will remain unaltered & I will be paid in the normal way."

Then today receive another letter off KPMG stating that my employment is now terminated! :\

OPFW - No mail on Company mail.

Not impressed really, but what can you say??!??

Jemgirl - that's the best idea I've heard all day. Count me in.

To everyone else - it was an adventure, shame it had to come to this.

Good luck everyone... :{

Help is needed

I am deeply sorry to hear more of us laid off.

To those pilots affected, it might be worth trying to get the IPA, Balpa or both involved in fighting for a decent (???) redundancy package, lost wages, expenses etc.

Strongly suggest discuss this on the balpa/Emerald website for those balpa members !!!!

To those not in the above unions, but affected, will help as best as possible.

Well .. time to get the house on the market :{

Nice to see the administrators are earning their money .. when is the company actually going to send an e mail letting people know what has really gone on and that the AOC that the CAA said was "temporarily suspended" pending Emerald getting their house in order hasnt been reissued.

Come on MOB be a man in the final hour of what used to be a thriving company and at least let the troups know what really went on. You at least have other irons in the fire .. so disruption to your life will be minimal .. for lots of others life will never be the same.
Do we take it then that no one wants to buy the company?

No chance, like I said in a post days ago their priority will only be how to retain as much money as they can for themselves and to pay as little to the debtors and employees as possible. Everyone who ever worked for anyone, always make the same mistake, they think they are appreciated by the company and they think the boss gives a !!!!. We are all ants that they tread on as they walk up to the cash machine. Wake up and smell the roses

Good Luck to Everyone at Emerald LPL

Hi Guys and Girls... i am so sorry to hear that you are to lose your Jobs... I see most of you as you pass by me most days... going into work.

Good Luck to all the Hosties, the Pilots, and ground crews, also the stores lads.. and my mate from Brunei.

I Hope you all find employment very, very soon......

The administrator's wont get much money for the Green and Maroon cars used at LPL..... I bet.....

MOB P45 18th May 2006 18:14

Supersize That Ego

Reason that AOC not reinstated is that Tw*t Face wouldn't step down as Responsible Manager - a fundamental requement of the Belgrano in Gatwick. He decided to let it collapse rather than step down - pure and simple. He must be AJ's love child - no other reason makes any sense.

6 crew retained for 748. If you answer 'NO' to following you are sacked -
1. 748 rated pilot?
2. In Check?
3. LPL Based?
4. Brown Nose?

Also, if you are a 748 TRE and out of check, guess what? - You're fired!

Even if you have been fired T.Face may phone you and say ' Don't go anywhere, we are going to need people when we get up and running'
Breathtaking!

jemgirl 18th May 2006 18:15

strontium mate, so sorry it,s happened to you too. you'll get a much better job with your proffesionalism, suave sophisticationand good looks. Ha ha! wiped your details by mistake, pm me again please. not recruiting in dog squad.i'll keep trying. take it easy mate. Oh deary me!......

Delta Wun-Wun 18th May 2006 19:20

Well I know of at least two 748 guys that are in check and they have both been made redundant.:ouch:
