Latest rumour is that new buyer is an Australian Company, who used to trade as Horizon Airways. Also BAC are supposed to have got the Sheds and the CVT hangar (free free to expand or retract on that one .........).
Also it seems that crews are being sought to re-position the impounded aircraft back to Blackpool.

Anymore got any more ???

Angel Training Required?

Hi Folks

I'm just wondering does anyone know of any operators who might be interested in using a freelance ground instructor/CRMI?

I'm now working under the guise of Angel Training Systems Ltd (www.angeltrainingsystems.co.uk) and would like to chase down any leads if anyone knows of any work that may be available.

Hope the rest of you ex EA folk are all OK.

Cheers

Matt

Aircraft on the move

I understand that moves are afoot to get the impounded aircraft re-positioned to Blackpool. So if anyone wants to join me in a box of tissues to go an see them depart out of Liverpool, let me know, and I'll advise the date(s).

That will be a very sad day to see the 748 disappear out of Liverpool (I'm filling up now at the thought of it!!)

Emerald ...what's the latest ?

The demise of Emerald Airways seems to have faded from our attention. What has happened to the employees outstanding salaries/holiday/duty pay owed ? Are KPMG doing anything to compensate the unfortunate employees 6 months after the airlines collapse ?

Not a happy bunny

Sweet f/a at the moment.

Apparently there's some sort of Tribunal going on. But have not heard very much. KPMG is a big multi-national monster and anyone trying to fight them for a penny is going to be swatted like a fly.

I don't have much hope......... Becoming a Jedi master is easier.....

Its sad in these situations but KPMG or any other administrator are going to ensure that the biggest debts (in this sad case TCAS fits, lease charges, outstanding airport charges etc etc) are paid off first.

Like its already been said the employees are often the very last to benefit because they dont have the ability to pay months of legal fees like many of the creditors have done in this case in order to get the biggest piece of the pie possible.

I would imagine that some news of any possible reimbursement may not be too far off, sometimes in this situation its better to move forward than to keep looking back. If it had been any other administrator exactly the same process would have taken place, its taken months and months to establish ownership on a whole range of items, thats not KPMG's fault, its the fault of one individual who thought he was bigger and better than the CAA who allowed his AOC to be suspended.

I'm afraid your ascertions are incorrect, EI-CGO.

As much as I dislike administrators/receivers/liquidators, having had many battles with them over the years, I must defend them here.

They are NOT allowed by UK law to distribute funds received from sale of assets as you suggest. Creditors are catagorised as: Secured; Preferential ; Unsecured and they get paid in that order. Salaries come into the second category. preferential. It does not matter who, how big or what you are, if you don't have any claim in the first two categories, you get what is left after the first two are paid in full, equally divided between you on a eg: 1p in the £1 basis, depending on the size of your debt.

For what it is worth, KPMG were probably the worst of the big insolvency firms to have given an airline to, but that is water under the bridge now.

IB4138, I was in a way defending KPMG.

But the first two catagories that you mention contain the biggest debts, and if you are clued up on all the whole process you will no doubt be aware that the way monies are distributed often comes down to pressure from banks and laywers behind closed doors. Its very often the employees who are the loosers, or am I wrong ?

The mess that JEM was left in it was a miracle that KPMG are at the point that they find themselves today, regardless of the administrator the shambles that they had to deal with was not of their making, thats unless you have inside knowledge of THIS situation ?

The VAT man and the Inland revenue man are amongst the secured creditors, no doubt there are others. After the secured have been paid off, the rest if any, is shared out. I know Ive been up that well trodden path

I have a cheque from a liquidator to the value of 6 pence.........

It is proudly displayed on the back of the toilet door...........

I will possibly meet the `offender` next month (yes he carries on his trade as normal) sadly draging him across a busy exhibition hall by his gonads will land me with a public disorder charge (not recommended in my line of work)
