AOC
Can't see any 748 flying with emerald again. Given how quickly the administrator sacked everyone without the correct notice. Does beg the question whether the AOC was pulled because the solvency of the company. Worth checking whether the company pension scheme was paid to date?
How quickly were your expenses paid? Took months. We were the company's personal bankers we'rent we? How many guys have not long paid for their ratings. So no job, no way of paying the (re-)mortgage and no other uk operator of the 748.
Who are the remaining pilots. N.C. is one. Are they all management right hand seat qualified with a Jar ATPL?

Whilst on the subject of appearance I must say that I found ALL our Flight attendants very professional. They were ALL very presentable, pleasant and the best looking girls in any fleet you would fly with.
If you don't think so just check out on your next commercial flight when you go on Hoilday (when you can afford one) or positioning flight.
I believe that most have become re-employed elsewhere, enough said.
Back to reality and lets hear abouts what important.

Balpa
Sad news hearing about Emeralds demise.
Had the same thing happen 6yrs ago. The appointed liquidators dismissed us with out thought.
Our Balpa rep took the liquidators elloite and Toilet: to County Court for not following the correct proceedures, we all got a good payout including hol pay from the DTI about 6 months later.
Good luck all of you in finding work.

From what I hear, the Emerald name will go to be replaced by a new company. Will be using Shorts and 748's on cargo Ops only. ATP's to go and no more pax Ops.
Like I say this is PURELY a rumour. I hear the new companys name will begin with the letter "C". Hopefully theres a little substance to it but dont hold your breath.
Good luck to everyone involved.

Mercenary, you must know MORE than KPMG do
There are THREE serious bidders for the remnants of JEM, one has similar plans to what you describe, but a deal is far from done.
Many of the contracts that JEM 'had' are being snapped up by other operators and the brokers, some of them on 12 month contracts already, the big concern of that bidder (we shall call them bidder 1) is that there will be NO contracts left to fly, which is why JEM are trying to protect the IOM work, as ever its just too little too late as the Antonovs are moving in and although JEM have a few aircraft subbed in for next week, they are going to have to compete on these routes!
The Royal Mail WILL put EVERY JEM contract back out to tender regardless of who buys what, so again no guarantees of getting ANYTHING, especially as the prices wont be ' wide boy specials' just to stop anyone else from getting the work.
The other 2 bidders are operators.
One thing I can say is that from what I have heard plans are well afoot by bidder 1 to replace all non-flying AOC post holders ASAP.
Their HQ is VERY unlikely to be LPL.
Bidders 2 and 3 have no intention of taking any staff on other than some flight crew.
My advice to anyone still being fed lies at LPL is to bail out if you get the chance.

From a contact on the inside. On Thursday BAC Express were at BLK looking over ALL the a/c. If you look at their website they appear to be on the up. 2morrow group bought them last year and now want more a/c. Does 2+2 make 5 !!!!!!!
