And there you have the problem in a nutshell:
Have you left: you need to STFU!
Have you not left: you need to STFU!

Basically: if you disagree with cxflog, you need to STFU!

Words are cheap, Piet. You either rejoined or you prowl the forum like a caught-in-the-act husband his ex-wife's instagram.

And to the rest of the big mouths in here, continue to pretend to have left like Piet or be happier at Meydan South Labor Camp.

I find your continuous conspiracy theory about me having rejoined, hilarious.
If that were the case, it should not be too hard to figure out who I am and invite me for a beer.

Also pretty typical for you to agree with the statement that I should STFU no matter if I left, not left, rejoined or divorced permanently from cx.
”Lurking on my ex’a facebook page”, I guess that’s me. I’m just bored and sitting at another airport at 3am having been bumped.
But I apologise STW, you’re right: after 10 years in cx and having had intimate knowledge of the inner workings of both cx and the AOA I should indeed STFU in stead of making valuable contributions like yourself.
Let’s assume for the sake of argument that I did leave and still read the fragrant harbour part of the forum, does that really make me a sadder sack of sweaty balls than yourself? Don’t YOU have better things to do with your time, Mr. Multi-Millionaire Captain “I’m allright-Jack” CRM?

You're all bitching, moaning and abusing each other. Don't you all understand we're brothers in arms as pilots and that we all got into this industry because we all had a common love for flying? We all have different reasons for staying or going etc and we can all make a good argument for whatever decision we made.

You could argue that the USA is free, has good work conditions, decent employment contracts, better pay and a better life etc. You could also counter argue that it has high taxes, the government is in a spiral descent with our current president, the alternative is not much better, we have huge issues at the border and the interest rates are unstable etc.

You could argue that the Europe is free, has good work conditions, decent employment contracts, better pay and a better life etc. You could also counter argue that it has high taxes, the governments are all mostly in a spiral descent, have weak leaders destined to each ruin their countries, border issues and the interest rates are unstable. etc

You could argue that Hong Kong is a great city, has low taxes, great work opportunities, beautiful countryside, very accepting of expats, great potential to earn good money and is a very safe city. You could also counter argue that it has no employment protection, suffers pollution issues, is becoming more like the mainland and the city is finished etc.

The point I am making is that none of it matters. Everyone has a reason for choosing to stay or not stay. You can make anything you or others do sound like a great decision or the dumbest one you/they have ever made. In reality, all this arguing that "I'm in a better place and made a better decision than you" is irrelevant, its' all down to perception and what's right for you and your family,

Just a quick example of conversation I heard in our crew room. An Aussie was saying he was returning to CX and gave all of these positive reasons for going to HK. He was 100% into returning and was totally convinced he had made the right decision and that we were all screwed to stay here in the US. As he walked off another colleague rattled off a thousand reasons how he thought he was a fool and how HK and CX are finished. Who was right? You could say they both were. I congratulated the guy leaving and was truly happy for the both of them. What is right for one is not right for the other.

I wish all of you nothing but the best and whatever decision you made to either stay in HK or go then be happy with it. It's not a competition to piss on everyone else for the decision they made.

Life is too short, enjoy whatever time you have left.

finally someone talking sense

Sam Ting Wong 17th March 2024 16:18

Well said, Fac. You are right of course.

Gnadenburg 17th March 2024 16:47

I really like Hong Kong but don’t like the all round culture of Cathay. I’m waiting for an Air China take over to improve things then I’ll apply to come back. I was leased to Air China with Dragon and the operation was stress free compared to CX and having ATC VIP-like priority was unbinding.

The Cabin Crew on HKD9000 / month are the most pissed off that the profit share is 7.2 x eligible salary. If they have a bad day at work they could be injured in turbulence or die violently. An office worker (receiving a relatively bigger profit share) might suffer a paper cut.

No one forced the cabin crew to take the job nor the office worker... but I'm sure the office worker is complaining about salary, no time off, commuting time, stress, colleagues and wishing to travel frequently.

An employee will never have a salary that matches their expectations no matter how many millions they are making... if you are not happy with your job or salary just get another or mind your own business.

Progress Wanchai 19th March 2024 05:00

Fac6 makes a good point and as per usual STW talks more sense than most on here (won’t stop me calling him on his misdirections tho).

There are 3 options that cx crew have.
1. STFU.
2. Quit and try your luck elsewhere.
3. Fight for an improvement.

Whinging incessantly like a spoilt child on social media about everything from salaries to rosters to how difficult it is to fill out an FRMS form to how unfair things are is also an option, just a very immature one.

We get from the company exactly what we deserve.

VforVENDETTA 19th March 2024 08:38

Telling people to shut up because you don't like what they're saying is the most childish thing one can do.

They're free to complain as they wish. As are you.

Merely because their free speech is bursting the bubble you have painstakingly set up for yourself to exist in so the reality of your situation doesn't cause you depression. That's why you're complaining and crying and demanding they stop. Like a child.

If you don't like it, don't listen to it. In this case, don't keep coming here to read it. Keep coming here crying and complaining as you wish too. If you think someone would shut up because you told them too... you're more adorable than you think.

Don't bring your bubble around sharp objects.

cadetjockey 19th March 2024 11:51

V4V in my humble opinion there are still 2 groups of people who should STFU:

1. People who have already made a decision to leave based on their own situation and circumstance and yet come on trying to stir things up or judge those of us who have chosen to stay based on our own situation and circumstances
2. anyone who disagrees with me

Hmm point 1 I don’t agree with because I get a kick out of bullying my fellow ex coworkers on staying at the worlds best airline*

Point 2 I agree as my opinion is fact and you can’t tell me otherwise.

*compared to competing ULCC’s

Looks like the whole free speech issue at least in HK is solved. Good to know China is looking out for the people.

Hong Kong's leader John Lee had earlier also defended the law - which was fast-tracked through its final phase on Tuesday - saying the legislation would help the city "effectively prevent, suppress and punish espionage activities, conspiracies and traps from foreign intelligence agencies, and infiltration and sabotage by hostile forces".

"From now on, the people of Hong Kong will no longer experience these harms and sorrows," he added.

Time to move on to beacons of democracy like Dubai, Singapore or Riad.

it's about airing the truth of the situation cathay pilots are in. So others don't fall into the same trap unknowingly. And its working. Cathay can't restore its capacity, due to... LACK OF PILOTS, despite the 2 year long campaign to hire enough pilots and having reduced hiring standards to unprecedented low levels.

It's the most noble thing one can do.

And the CX Koolaide drinkers compare CX to Atlas or literally any non Legacy carrier or LCC. Now that is sad. No one is leaving a legacy carrier career such as AA UA AC QF BA etc to do 30 years at CX. Same CX Koolaide drinkers are creaming themselves over 7 weeks profit share when every other legacy carrier gave a minimum of 6 months. Same CX Koolaide drinkers that come on PPRune singing the praises of COS18 won't even look at how much better they're be paid had their career been at any legacy carrier.
The only crew doing OK are the SO living at home and the older crew who paid off their tiny 1300 sq ft apartments (that they've somehow convinced themselves is huge) and can use the new meagre housing that's now cash to shore up their low base pay.

Sam Ting Wong 26th March 2024 08:47

It's hard to remain optimistic for humanity if one looks at the empathetic as much as reasonable and articulate post of Fac... and your response to it.

Piet Lood 26th March 2024 22:32

Oh come on Chicken Little,
not all hope is lost for humanity.
Just have a good look in the mirror and marvel at the usual image of your eloquent, intelligent self.
Yes, yes, I know, you and FAC are fighting all the monsters by yourself, but how can such a magnificent beast NOT succeed in convincing others of your intellect…
