Isn't it impolite for management to be posting in the presence of The Dear Leader during his auditorium speech?

Total crap! Tax loan received within 24hrs the other day without any documents from cx. Using it to boost deposit for property, overseas bank wanted an updated reference letter which I applied for and came through the same day.

Can you post his brutal 70+ sectors a month domestic roster. Hats off to him working like a dog, paid peanuts just to get back to NZ.

why is it ok to take DEC at Jet2 and shaft Jet 2 F/Os but not ok when DEFO join and shaft S/O at CX. Never understood that, we use seniority when it suits.

Please try harder morningcoffee. 70+ sectors?? I realise you have an agenda to spin but don't talk sh*t when you don't know sh*t!

77 hrs a month the 320 fleet is averaging and it’s a 50 minute sector AKL WLG. Slightly longer to CHC. I’ve seen the roster and it ain’t pretty.
You think it’s one return WLG and then 4 days off? Post a 320 roster then.....Air NZ can work you like a dog because you can’t complain, it’s the only gig in town.

Training pay for the first 6 months when you join is $20k a year, bwahahaha and guys line up to take it.

And that tells anyone with a brain cell exactly what level being employed by Swire and the CPA Group has fallen to......

Sounds like a KA roster.

Except doing it for less than half the pay, double the tax and half the amount leave you would get at KA. Also, lets not forget the 25 years to command on a widebody...

Here’s the catch.
If ANZ (or QF, VA, BA, AF, AC, AA etc) are as bad, if not worse, than CX in providing quality of life and remuneration, why is the movement of pilots between CX and these airlines not cancelling each other out? I can name dozens of former colleagues who have gone to each of these airlines, but I can’t think of the last pilot we recruited from any of these companies.

It’s a fair question to then ask why is everyone not quitting CX. It comes with a simple answer. Seniority.
Joining the bottom of a seniority list in a legacy carrier is like making a very long term investment. To withdraw early with zero return to then be able to reinvest long term elsewhere makes perfect sense. To withdraw 10 years later to reinvest medium term elsewhere is a gamble. To withdraw 20 years later to reinvest short term elsewhere makes very little sense.
Yet guys and girls still are. A 260 perecent increase in attrition in just 4 years is testimony to that.
And none of their replacements are coming from Air New Zealand.

MC you are so full of s**t. I have plenty of friends that work there and know plenty at CX awaiting courses. The fact that captains are dumping seniority to fly there must tell you something. Even on the turbo prop fleet at Air New Zealand the training pay is around 40k per year. And while it does suck a little bit it isn’t the end of the world and lasts for 2 months not 6. I understand you must be getting a little nervous that people have actually left CX to go there.

I couldn’t care who’s going, I’m just saying that they can pay whatever they want, roster you whatever they want and guys will sign up. You can go on about a sh*t deal at CX but the fact is aviation is a sh*t deal everywhere.
Best part is you think $40K a year under training is a great deal, and it only last 2 months. Ground school, sims, line training, checks in 2 months? It used to be no pay during training and still guys signed up. End of the day guys will join the Koru irrespective of Air NZ’s lousy pay and roster. Nothing CX can do to change that.

Simple question MC.

If I may mix metaphors, if all of aviation is an equally “sh*t deal everywhere”, why are the pilots jumping out of the frying pan into the fire looking for greener grass, not being replaced by pilots jumping out of the fire into the frying pan?

I always enjoy watching MC thrash around like a raving lunatic inside his cubicle, as is obviously the case with his last post. The man needs a valium.

And how does this compare to getting paid 100AUS per week “under training in Adelaide”?

AtoBsafely 2nd Dec 2018 00:13

....and then having that cost deducted when you arrive in Hong Kong on “normal salary”?

seriously comparing the two is a joke.

Sorry sydneyman. Syntax and punctuation makes that hard to follow. Are you talking of NZ or HKG being the dump? I see issues in both.

I’m assuming you have absolutely no idea what T&C are like anywhere else. You haven’t mentioned a single job out there that’s better.
The market will change and QF & AirNZ will go back to the usual 10-15 yrs to a narrowbody command.

So both employers are garbage, is that what you’re saying?

I am simply saying that while you seem to blow smoke up cx’s ass 24/7 and bitch about every other airline, such as training pay ect you are oblivious to the fact that CX essentially does the same thing to perfectly qualified pilots who have to do a stint in Adelaide. The one thing I do agree with you on is that this job is not what it used to be. However the difference is you still put up with the same bullsh*t everywhere else as well but you at least get to live in your home country and be able to have a good quality of life, not to mention spending 10 USD on a block of butter!

Pretty sure NZ is not a dump. Process of elimination mate! Mainland China is most assuredly a dump. HK is only slightly better. India is off the charts.
