I suggest you pay a little more and fly with another airline. Your family and friends will thank you for it.

Unpaid Leave

HKE now into one week's unpaid leave as well as HKA. Decidely Singaporean approach to mismanagement!

While all this is going on, rumour has it that they are trying to lease a B747-400 for cargo operations!!!!!! All this in the midst of a massive slump in cargo traffic

:ugh:

HKA Tickets

I will be in Hong Kong in March and have been looking at purchasing a ticket from Hong Kong to Kunming return for 6th of March returning 14th of March.
I purchased a fully flex ticket last week HKG-HAK-HKG but didnt need it. Called them to get refund on credit card and after asking me to fill in a form, they say it will take around 2-months to credit me back!

Funnily enough, I cant get an answer when I try to complain.

Even if they remain in business, be careful about their treatment of you if you need anything back!

News from the Rolls Royce website - looks like the A330s are still on the way, but will they end up in HK or in China with HNA?

HNA Group signs contract for Rolls-Royce Trent 700 for Hong Kong Airlines’ A330 fleet
Friday, 27 February 2009

HNA Group and Rolls-Royce plc have today signed a contract for Trent 700EP engines to power Hong Kong Airlines’ new fleet of 20 Airbus A330s. The value of the contract, including a long-term TotalCare® services agreement, is approximately US$1.2 billion at list prices. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the contract was announced in January 2008.

HNA Group is a major shareholder in Hong Kong Airlines, which will become a new Rolls-Royce customer. The Group already operates Trent 700 powered A330-200 and Trent 500 powered A340-600 aircraft. The Trent 700 engines selected for Hong Kong Airlines are the latest Trent 700EP (Enhanced Performance) version, which feature improved fuel and lower emission levels. The airline will take delivery of its first A330 aircraft in 2010.

Liu Junchun, Executive Vice President of HNA Group, said: "Having experienced an excellent operational record with the Trent 700s currently in service with Hainan Airlines, the engine is clearly the best solution for Hong Kong Airlines' A330 fleet. Its outstanding reliability and operational flexibility mean it does not limit the routes that our aircraft can operate, giving us and our passengers maximum choice."

Steve Miller, Vice President of Civil Aerospace - China, at Rolls-Royce, added: "HNA Group is a major and fast growing airline group in China and this contract demonstrates the Group’s continuing confidence in the value and reliability of our products and the strength of our long term relationship. This is the launch of the Trent 700EP in China. The Trent 700EP will deliver HNA Group significant fuel savings."

The Trent 700 has consistently been demonstrated as the engine of choice for airlines operating the A330. The Trent 700 has secured over 70 per cent of the A330 market over the last three years. In China the Trent 700 has been selected thirteen times by nine customers to power a total of 155 A330s that are either in service or on order. The engine delivers outstanding levels of performance and offers the highest available thrust on the A330, maximising revenue generating capability. Latest technologies also give the engine class-leading fuel burn that translates into lower emissions.

If they want it to work they'll have to get rid of the Singa Snakes and the Indo's first. And hire some people that can actually manage and fly a plane!!

hongkongfooey 3rd Mar 2009 11:44

To : Airbus Industrie

To whom it may concern,

good luck getting your money, hopefully the commies will shell out another 1/2 billion yuan to keep HKAs crap parent company afloat.

No Widebodies For HKA

Appartently HKA has been told that they won't be operating widebodies. The latest is a China Airlines B747-400 Freighter for HKE.

I suppose that is why the F/O pay has now dropped to HKD30,000 per month. But of course we have been told that the pay will go up when the good times return.

hongkongfooey 17th Mar 2009 09:04

Ooooooooops, after the article a few weeks ago on the RR website, looks like a huge loss of face in the offing :E

Interesting Times Ahead

Its that time of year again......summer coming. Looking forward to reading again how these Singa idiots and cheap labour morons from Indo operate VERY BADLY during these months.

Was hoping this crisis would bring about some Karma for these criminals and send packing all the singa dipsh!ts that ruined a good airline.

But maybe it'll be another series of typhoons and strong crosswinds that the Singasnakes and Indo's think can handle will send em packing. That with Madam Wu and his cronies making incredibly bad operational decisions should make for a good summer!!

maybe we should thank them for the good laugh they've given all of the aviation industry? .........Nah.......
