Think you've got that backwards, I believe he was brought in to the programme to reform CX and dump their old ways, so more likely got sick of dealing with the incompetence that is ICM.

Hoylands minions forever!

Now they can get a computer to do Hoylands legacy.

Nope. All will continue to be done on butchers paper with felt pen and then transposed onto an excel spreadsheet to make it look semi-professional...and they are still trying to roster the retired!

It is extremely unusual for a project manager to resign in the middle of the project, to which he just a few month ago commited so intensely. While there can be genuine personal reasons -which is very rare in this context- the likely reason is that one way or another, he believed that the project cannot be succesfully completed in the given environment and the given conditions.

A good, experienced project manager will know within weeks, if a project can be a success or not, not because of the task at hand -he has likely done a similar task many times before-, but because of of the environment the project happens to be IN.

Has he been equipped with enough power to make the necessary changes? After all, the essence of a project IS change. If the answer to that is NO, there is no way forward to complete the project succesfully. Cut the losses and move on.

During my days as project manager, I made it very clear, that I will not engage in any project, where the power structure is not clearly defined, because confrontations are inevitable during a project. It is not IF, it is WHEN.

And yes, I have walked away from projects only to see the project collapse completely or sink to such a level of despair, that following enlightenment the necessary changes were finally made and the project moved forward at a much greater cost in time and money.

No need to make a poll here, because almost anyone who works at CX knows, what the problem is, that needs fixing, before ANY succesfull project can be undertaken.

The speed at which things happen is painfully slow and many of us simply do not have the time to wait..

Avius and crwkunt, you stole my speach that I was writing in my sleep last night trying to watch the Hateful Eight.

This resignation was during the week where all the TUs, HKAOA excused themselves, were meeting to discuss the CMP. It does not appear to have gone well. Now you would think the company would say nothing but this will make for a great Friday update to announce further
delay to the CMP.

I believe the CMP is going to be used for punishment and control. This is why IM left. It's for them not for us. The efficiences of the CMP will not be used as that means giving up control. Most people dealing with this company eventually realise what corrupt and lying ruthless people they are. I also believe it's why we don't have 748is. Boeing was not willing to just give them away and eventually walked away.

Contract compliance has just really angered them and they simply are retaliating. SOs are being told an extra two years now as the resources are used for DEFOs and those eligible to upgrade quickly to FO. This is how they have treated the training ban. Don't actually fix anything, just keep bashing your employees. "I've come to complain, sorry, it's getting hit over the head lessons here"! They just can't help themselves.

It's not going to get better. They just don't care. They'll burn it to the ground before they EVER capitulate to us. Is anyone paying attention to the exodus going on??? I watched Titanic the other night and after shock, reality finally set in that Titanic is in fact sinkable and is sinking right now. Time to get off, beat the ques elsewhere, and not drown.

Only a mirracle can save us now and Obi One is dead. "Frightened you'll be"!

under the AT regime, if you are not her person; you are going out that door fast. Look how many incompetent and useless staff she had hired since she has been been crowned as DFO.

Aided and abetted by a fire that was found burning several days before the sinking, but covered up by the management...

Through most of life, the only control someone has over you is that which you choose to delegate to them.

In any case, it would be frustrating to see some of these folks trying to paddle a raft to shore. No matter how talented or strong a rower they might be.

"Why isn't the raft moving"

"Well, you're all paddling in different directions...maybe you all want to try going the same way--things will work out better if you do"

"That's a stupid idea and I'll do things MY way......everyone paddle harder."

It's all very similar to the disastrous Navtech EFB that we continued with despite Jepp have a vastly superior product . So it cost a few bucks more, at least it worked. If the geniuses in the office hadn't screwed up the hedging so much we could have had about a thousand years of Jepp EFBs

Well, the Jepp EFB "would" have originally cost more if the Navtech product had been installed for the proposed budget. But....as in all things CX, incompetence, hubris and epic face-saving took over, with the end result being that we have now spent approximately twice what the original Boeing/Jepp would have cost. We now have a clunky, unreliable, inferior product in about 3 aircraft and they have quietly cancelled the program. Millions of $$$ down the drain. Accountability....?? What do you think? But let's be sure to study our new fuel usage graphs and make sure you save that 50kg on your next flight. Benny Hill would have been proud of this lot.

Hmm....let's look at the company statement on this event for a moment: We are supposed to buy the story that Chris suddenly want's to move back to Scotland...in January . I would think that a one way ticket to Guantanamo Bay would have been more believable. (apologies to my Scottish friends....love Haggis ).
