Couple of points:
1. KA training on the A330 is a clear breach of CX pilots' COS (KA pilots don't have the same clauses restricting when external agencies may conduct training, unfortunately).
2. AT has just received short shrift from the head of IFALPA re this plan to circumvent legal industrial action by pitting one union's members against another.
Perhaps that's the reason for the "toning down" of this week's language, but in any event, I can't think of any reason for relaxing the ban on trainer volunteers at this crucial stage, and any horse trading of COS for small changes in RPs would send the wrong message.
A responsible and clearly defined RP agreement is crucial - the safety and lifestyle implications are too important, and ignoring legal clauses in one's COS sets a dangerous precedent. I hope all AOA members are using the correct channels (i.e. not this forum) to impress upon their GC the value of holding the line on these issues.

We are doing what is agreed by our contracts, the contracts they wrote up and we signed. If that is not good enough for them, and they want more, then THEY have to sweeten the deal, not us. If they want more productivity, more flexibility, more training to occur, etc., then THEY have to exchange what they want for something that WE want. Where that balance lies is the whole point of negotiations. If they will not give in, that means they are not negotiating, and they are not sweetening the deal to get something from us.
We currently are in a position of power which will be applied during these negotiations. "If they will not give in, that means they are not negotiating"? They are going to give up and submit? Really? We may trade something valuable away to gain some sweetener. We must fight for RP to remain part of our contract. We may win, but the Company will not loose.

RAT, watch the same people that signed last time sign again. Lots of people talk the talk but won't walk the walk. I would say 50% plus whom are union members will forget contract compliance when it gets down to the sign or be fired day. Then what will we all do.Contract compliance is going to come to a screaching halt.
How can contract compliance come to a grinding halt? You just do your job and nothing else. Don't answer your phone if you're not required to. Don't volunteer for anything. Don't be available if you're not required to be. Not that hard really.

Hi All, I was booked AY5105 / CX 157 HKG-BNE in October, and just received a TXT to say flight is now cancelled...surely CC would not be the cause of cancellations so far out?
I don't really mind, and support you all 100%...I was just trying to avoid flying with 'the rat'.....even with connections from BNE down to the Gold Coast non existant after CX 157 arrival in BNE!

I was recently chatting with an ATC guy, who works in HK, and he did mention in passing, that a new ATC system that is due to go online in HK 'soon'?, is going to require a reduction in movements, from many carriers, perhaps in the order of 10%, and CX being the largest carrier by movements is going to have to cut more of its scheduled flights than other airlines, while HKCAD get it up and running.
I assume they are worried if the Cha lady accidentally pulls the plug out of the wall, to plug the vacuum cleaner in, that all the aircraft disappear into the black hole on the screen, less aircraft, smaller catastrophe.
I'm only guessing this could be the reason for the cancelled 157.

CX157 schedule. (Cathay Pacific flight: Hong Kong -> Brisbane) shows you the slight variations in departure times and the dates that these schedule changes occur.
Hard to say why your flight is cancelled without further information from you.
The fact you are using 2 different airlines may hold answers as there could be many reasons to speculate on, including connection times insufficient due to seasonal schedule adjustments.
But guaranteed: Your stated cancellation of the flight(s) is not because CX Pilots choose to not work on days off.

I sorted it directly with AY., seems they've pulled their code on that flight at least, (light loads one hopes!)..now rebooked with CX directly.
