Tactical Sickness?

Latest missive by the almighties....we have supposedly introduced tactical sickness....

What a crock....contract compliance was retaliated by the company with punishing punitive rostering with lots of lots of reserves lots of O days, min rest 1 day in 7 bull**** etc, and its godamn winter...welcome to flu season.

Stupid people......after 3 months of these rosters trying to cover their mistakes you get what you sow....increased fatigue and with it more chance of sucumbing to any bug you know...

Heads up when there ever is an introduction of the old golf days you will know it you dumb asses.

Haven't played for a while; might even need a second day to get my swing back in the groove!

It appears that London and Milan were delayed until the following morning no reason given, NY was cancelled (.consolidation no doubt will be the explanation , but being days before CNY I would suspect other reasons )
The company's arrogance is coming back to bite them in the ass a Got to love Karma

Do you really have to advertise all this on Pprune?

Now we know who to target and add notes to their secret files. It will only take the dismissal of a couple of S/O’s to have the rest fall into line.

We will go out of our way to tarnish their name and start the destruction of their careers.

We have a much harder time when it is guerrilla warfare but thanks for the heads up.

Nothing like a group of pilot blabbermouths to let us know whom to target and for that we thank you.

Keep threatening the SO's that make nothing of a housing allowance and owe the company a training bond and then wonder why they might have a less than professional attitude.

You can't make this stuff up. CX management have brought this debacle on themselves. No sympathy. As someone just commented, keep beating up on the SO's....the one group in the company that has NOTHING to lose. It's not as though there is much value in their career's as it is. Most of them can't even afford a social life. I think the only way this ever gets fixed is to ensure it's driven to collapse first. Do not give them an inch to breath. Remind your colleagues that it's important to all be 'professional'. Don't compromise 'safety'....if you know what I mean. Be sure to encourage your friends to 'stay professional'.

It's bliss having management on my ignore list, I know he's not management and only trying to wake us up a bit but still I don't need to have that drivel shoved in my face....

It's not rocket science

Umm, this is embarrassingly easy maths - so easy I feel kinda stupid for putting it here.

If people are rostered for twice as many days per month of work, and their average daily sickness rate doesn't change, then the monthly sickness rate will double.

Why? Because we don't call sick on G days or O days(unutilised) or Leave

EG
Ten work days rostered - average sick rate 3 days per month, approximately 10% sickness rate(1 in 3 chance it will be a work day). Twenty days of work a month, 3 sick days per month, 20% sickness rate! Well actually it is still "10% of work days" but from the company's perspective there are twice as many sick days being taken compared with earlier!

And of course I am totally ignoring the effects of disruption, fatigue, stress - planning on a short haul ending before midnight and suddenly operating through your WOCL etc etc which would increase that monthly base rate!

This was pointed out to a previous DFO - he didn't seem to get it!

Hmm going afte so's.....

Yeah you wont win much there......cause when you pay people peanuts then they have nothing to lose.....i point at the cabin crew as an example.....strike for cabin crew....umm yeah going to move in with parents, husband etc and have a vacation from the crap roster. Its why the FAU has it just as rough from CX managment....but stilll when the nuclear option is discussed in seriousness suddenly things happen and the company negotiates with FAU.

Plus targeting the new joiners will just advertise.....DONT GO CX. See the recruitment dilemma.....thats why the problem so's are slipped quietly away.

Not sick!

You don't need to report sick, just report "Unfit for Duty".
There's a BIG difference here - see AFTL's if you have any doubts.
They make the rosters and punish us with the disruptions.

Do what you have to do to protect your health, your family and flight safety.

By all means, punish those SOs. That will help with recruitment and retention. The reputation is so good at CX. An endless stream of near 0 hour candidates keep flooding in.

Public, do you feel safe? You have pilots with no experience flying you across oceans at 80% the speed of sound in 200 million dollar aircraft. What seems off about that?

Btw, our seniority list grew by single digit last year. So for all those starry-eyed, spiky-haired recruits, we gained 5 pilots. What does that tell you? Who is going to fly the A350s? Sure, aircraft replacement parking jumbos and A340s, but then what? A330s on lease returned? Sold? Go to KA? Who will fly them at KA? Fuel prices are down. Does CX really want to flood the market with cheap 330s just because they don't have pilots to fly them.

Seriously, CX is farked. They are out of ideas and options. No amount of three man or RP magic fairy dust fixes this. Morale is in the toilet. Pilots either go sick multiple times a year or will just leave / retire. The market and the dollar are up.

Sorry management, but barring a global crisis, you have lost.

All the SOs on the cover of the latest CX magazine helping out in that community flight should be banned from the AOA.

including anyone that feels like doing any type of promotional activity for the company.

Sick and tired of these cadets prancing around in uniform telling everyone they are pilots.

Cocky G day workers.

Rumour has it that CX is getting new headsets that wrap around the back of the head so that it does not mess up the spiky hair. Also the little mirrors in the cockpit will be enlarged to make grooming easier on arrival before stepping out on parade into the terminal. It probably will not be long before the duty time post fight is increased to cater for this extended grooming time.

Sand Man: Reminds me of the time in the '80s when the Line Check forms had a category for " Grooming and deportment"! I kid you not!
