How much has it cost me to host Julian Assange? More than my whole family will ever pay in taxes. We want to host another of his ilk? I don't thinks so!

Mentioned in yesterdays news that China may even offer him protection as a direct retort to the West who are always criticising China's human rights record.

I doubt the Equadorian Embassy have spent anything like the 7 figure sum paid by me (the UK taxpayer) for 24/7 policing outside there. The man has not even been charged with anything and they spunk out money to stop him escaping.

They wouldn't even bother to call round last time I was burgled - easier to guard an embassy than solve crimes

Anarchy?

Irrespective of the points he is making, (about which I make no comment), If you support Ed Snowden, then by logical extension, you support anyone in any government/political/security/whatever agency throughout the world spilling the beans if he/she is personally not happy and believes that he/she has the oversight to personally judge the consequences being for the greater good.

Is that what anyone really wants?

But..he didnt spill any beans, he simply told people that they were being watched and in all honesty the whole NSA monitering worldwide communications thing has been common knowledge for decades.

Though it does seem that a lot of amerikans were naive enough to think their government only did it to other nations

Personaly the bit that really gets me is how My government keeps sucking up to the Amerika and letting it snitch as much as it wants on UK private individuals, menwith hill has been full of the stinking bastids for decades...all with UK Gov blessing

Its time the UK GOV grew a Pair and told Amerika to go blow once in while, the special relationship is bullsh1t, Amerika treats the UK GOV hardly any different to all other Govs around the world that it isnt actually fighting at any given time.

Also time Private Citizans of USA woke up to the fact that its Corporate Amerika that counts and the little people aint worth a poke in thine eye, to the capitalist ruling class

Your @rse belongs to big business, just like every other poor fecker in here

man has not even been charged with anything
I thought, maybe, Assange has been charged, in absentia, with breaching his bail?

As if the NSA or anyone has the time to monitor a tiny fraction of all calls. My guess is they use some sophisticated soft ware that works on certain key words, in several languages plus known names and details of suspects, etc. etc.

I see they are trying to get him extradited now from HK back to the States on an espionage charge! Oh the irony, what a bunch of hypocritical slime balls. Members of the government should be the ones prosecuted but yet again the corporations and big business work in tandem to pervert the law much like the symbiosis between the big banks and government after 2008. Knowing a bit about the cowardly nature of Hong Kong law; I can safely say they will roll over and do as the Amerikans demand, just like the good lap dogs that they are. This should be a wake up to anyone that thinks we live in a "free" society.

Threethirty

Snowden is a man who will have had a security clearance to handle highly sensitive information and will have signed agreements with the CIA and his employer not to disclose that information, in return he was highly paid. Snowden chose to breach both agreements and go public, he knows what he is doing, his offences are criminal. The nature of the information he is disclosing is irrelevant. Can't do the time? Don't do the crime.
