Air Law and ICAO documents.

I’m thinking about renewing my FI after an airline career and just starting to go through the questions in Standards 10(A).

When I did my PPL many years ago I think ICAO got the vaguest of mentions, Air Law was based primarily on UK legislation. (My ATPLs though were ICAO->EASA->UK Air Law based).

Is there any library, physical or online where I can see the original ICAO documents as I like to see the original wording.

$174 for just Annex 2 Rules of the Air for example is a bit prohibitive.

I’m aware that there are some web sites (in Switzerland for example &#128580 that have such things but they can’t be relied on to be up to date.

I assume that UK (EU) SERA or whatever it’s called is legally binding until it catches up with whatever changes may be in the latest ICAO Annex 2.

Cheers,
sixgee

Stick to the UK Regulation for air law. That’s what you should be teaching and going deeper into where that might be derived from will make your eyes bleed.

The Swiss CAA / BAZL is pretty good, providing most of the documents you´ll ever need.

ICAO is recomendation not Regulation! UK Law is currently a bit of a mess, we have the ANO to cover National Annex 1 aircraft and Part-FCL which is a UK copy of the European Regulation we supposedly left behind after Brexit! The CAA seems to be keener sticking with the Europrean regulation than just stepping back to the good old ANO.

What Whopity said... it's not law. National (and EU) regulations and laws are based on ICAO but with many local variations. While it may be interesting to have a look at the annex documents, it's no use using them as a basis for anything. Just have a look at the 'differences from ICAO' chapter in any AIP to get an idea of local variations. It's the UK laws linked to above that are more useful.
