Seems to me that QQ are trying to be cheapscates, whilst riding on the back of all that has gone before. What is a TAP, seems more like an Engineers job than a TP`s?
Further, being a Tutor demands a full time job in my view, as it will take perhaps a course of students before one is fully up to speed, with the lecturing, briefing, demo, and supervision aspects required, , and reporting, even if one only has a couple of students. Then to be dragged off to run/assist with trials , and all that that will involve ,seems to be diluting one`s responsibility to both sides. For all that, I`d expect a salary +benefits on a par with BA senior captains...or have I got it all wrong ?

From my mailbox this morning. I confess that I suspect that FAA is being a tad optimistic in offering that little for that much experience, but hope springs eternal I suppose.

Genghis,

I too got that email and looked into it a bit more. Sadly they are not interested in any non-US candidates "at the moment" but the good news is the pay is better than quoted.

For anyone interested two links to the details:

FAA-AIR-99-FTP-25910. the opm site is
http://jobsearch.usajobs.opm.gov/ and the FAA site is http://jobs.faa.gov/.
you can search on the announcement number, the words test pilot, or the job series, which is 2181

If you get in, keep a space for me please!

Apparently Eclipse has been advertising in the local ABQ papers. Checking their site shows, amongst others, vacancies for a Lead FTE, an FTE and a "Flight Test Certification Manager".

Re: Heads-up, flight test jobs, post details here.

Maybe the rumours about the resurgence of the aircraft industry are true. The Wichita Eagle was a positive mine of new aviation jobs relative to the last few months.

Diamond aircraft (www.diamondair.com) in London, Ontario, Canada has a vacancies for a Chief Test Pilot and a Senior Flight Analyst among nearly a dozen other engineering jobs.

The S-Tec division of Meggit (www.s-tec.com) has a vacancy for a Sr Flight Test Engineer again with several other jobs.

There are also engineering jobs with Bombardier Learjet, Garmin & Kollsman.

Re: Heads-up, flight test jobs, post details here.

I may know of a PhD studentship going in experimental flight mechanics sometime in 2006. Anybody with an interest in building their career on 3 years of slave labour and flight test, let me know and I'll pass your details on.

Does this education involve flying duties? I am coplilot on a crj with 2300h and highly interested in any flight testing duties. Unfortunately I have no degree, since earning a bsc besides the job seems almost impossible here in Europe. Appreciate any help!!!

A PhD studentship generally involves being employed for 3 years as a "research assistant", on a lamentably low salary (say, about the same as your annual allowances!), but you get to do cutting edge research and (assuming that the quality is high enough) you get a Doctorate out of it at the end.

The technical demands are pretty high, they sometimes will have somebody without an MSc, but it's almost unheard of to take somebody without a BSc or BEng. The only person I know who did a PhD without (so far as I know) any previous degrees was Darrol Stinton - look him up, you'll see why!

Genghis

Is this PhD studentship still on offer ?
I´ve already an MSc and PhD in engineering, 8 years research experience in an electrical/aerospace engineering company and changed to aviation 5 years ago. Now 2300 hrs on the ERJ145 as SF/O and working as technical pilot in the fleet management. Looking for the cutting edge...

Thanks
