Kendell, Flight West, Skywest and Hazelton system transition not going smoothly.

Hi folks

Discovered today after a call from the airport that the transition of the ex Ansett regionals has hit a major speed hump.

Agents on Galileo, Abbacus and Amadeus systems are unable to sell or ticket them at the moment, and are enduring an inevitable wait of over an hour trying to get through to overstressed hard working Res staff.

Short term fix if you are asked is give us a call on 1800 067207 during business hours or contact local Sabre connected Travel Dude. They are now hosted in Sabre and thankfully we are able to E Ticket - issue paper tickets - the works and email E ticket receipts and itineraries direct to the psgr.

About half Jetset agencies are Sabre as would be around 30% of non alligned and a smattering of the other major TA groups.

If anyone has an emergency in the interim, I can be contacted on 0419 323989 and can address the problem from here.

Our Agency is mostly International Corporate, but if we can plug a leak temporarily then we will. This is no fault of the regionals and we have to try and help.

Best all.

No Hugh

Complete b@stard if someone gets on the wrong side, but just in a position to maybe help a little.

If the info gets out through Ppruners that Sabre is working, less people are going to get frustrated and turn their backs.

Now it is up to Ppruners, armed with the correct info to spread the word.

Thanks though.

Was in Perth last week having a beer with a mate of mine who's a F50 Skipper with Skywest and he says business is booming. The new owners are very pleased with their aquisition and so are the customers.

Great quiz night down at Rosie O'Gradys - couldn't get my crew to join in unfortunately. You there JV ?

Hi 3 holer

Just love that reference to the 727.

Yes - was asked to make a YT (Now XR) booking today.

Totally seamless transition for us Sabre dudes. It is good to see they are doing well with the "Shame of Schipol".

Those aeroplanes were an airborne cot cases with AN until their engineers sorted out the design faults and weaknesses.

They were a part of the Eenie Weenie group long enough to consider them the last part of out tiny empire - so God bless them and all who fly with them.

EWL

Problem with transition was due to schedule SSIM files not being processed via OAG in time. Galileo (1G) / Amadeus (1A) subsequently missed the OAG schedule run.

Galileo Agents will have full visibility of schedules this Wednesday and Amadeus / Abacus by Saturday. Agents can long-sell if they know the flight numbers, which can be obtained from www.kendell.com.au This is not an ideal outcome, but the regionals are now small fish in a big sea and don't have BIG BROTHER (AN) to force the issue......

Have to agree EWL that things have not run smoothly, but I don't think a smooth transition was anticipated. Normally a change in res platform can take anywhere between 6months and 2years and the "TRIPLETS" (KD/QQ/XR) as nicknamed by Sabre, had to migrate platforms in approximately 4 weeks.

EWL, thanks for putting up your hand for assistance. It is greatly appreciated. Hopefully most major bugs will be gone by end of this week.

Who is QQ, wasn't QQ the old Reno Air that was merged into American Airlines.
KD, Kendell
XR-Skywest
ZL-Hazelton
QQ-I am right thinking FlightWest.

Maybe its Q for Queesland.

So who pulled out and who is now the prefferred bidder.

QQ is Flight West.

Skywest and Flight West had to re-apply to IATA for new codes as YC / YT had been taken by other Airlines.

KD was lucky that no other airline applied for the KD designator whilst they were using AN.

No problems - have fielded a few emails and sorted some things for airport peoples here too. It is good to be able to do asmall bit to help and my mates at the Airports like the support. Have done a few bookings that they have ticketed too - just goes with the community territory and is nice to be part of the rebuild.

QQ was indeed reno Air - have used them in the past before they too were glommed and the puntersloved them - a cheeky little operation using MD80 derivatives and doing it well.

KD remained vacant possibly because the KD designator was used on some regiaonals including MIM and MGB -also CPD OLP and PNS for quite a while after the rest of the network migrated to AN.

Possibly also because Don opted to protect it and keepit alive and in his hands.

Wise man. Wouldnt it be good to see Miles come home from DXB and do it all over again with a consortium of Emirates Crew! Miles??? You listening mate?? Do I have to get Michael and Helen to lean on you???

Best all.

Been in the high country too long I feel Cooma.

This forum is indeed a Pilot's rumour network but you would look pretty silly trying to blow back off the gate without the loco rampies bag chuckers engineers and tug drivers in a 763 - you never know - you may just get there.

Tone down the ego - we all provide support where needed for each other and need each other at times.

I realise that it is a trait that is neededto achieve a goal but realise it must be watered down once the goal becomes reality.

All the best

Just because I understand how things work behind the scences, doesn't mean I am not a pilot, but I can understand how this could be mistaken, given the number of pilots out there who are unaware of what goes on behind the scences prior to the aircraft turning up at a port to pick up passengers.

EWL, you are worth your weight in Saab parts!!

Nice one EWL, always a pleasure to read your positive and informative posts. Hypoxia has some effects that haven't yet been documented completely

Thanks Flat Chat an Al

I fully realise that I will never be competent enough or skilled enough to be aLine Pilot for any airline, but have just as much JetA1 running in my veins as any person here - and appreciate you both acknowledging that.

I bear you no ill will Cooma as I have mentioned ego - something needed in varying degrees to make it to the top - and I hope you do. A great mate who was an EW skipper, a guy that visited many of our barbies said that if the F27 broke down, he could fly the pax to Melbourne on his ego.

If you can find a port and a ground crew that can turn you around in a 146-200 in 7.5 minutes Cooma - then I probably trained them or their Airport Manager.

If you cant be the king pin - be the best support on earth.

We did that at DPO with and F28-4000 - world record as far as I know - Bill Friend was skipper. 50 off - 44 onwith bags and freight.

Team Cooma - all of you. Please remember that and you will be respected and loved wherever you go. From the instigation of the booking to pulling up at the aerobridge.

Best all

Oh - and some info for all and sundry - in the interim until the other GDS's load their OAG tapes, visit the KD/QQ/XR website and print the flight schedules out and sell them longhand. If your agent has a problem they can call me on 1800 067207.

I will walk them through the process and for the time being tell them what is available and best buy.

Best all
