Australian Airlines crewed by ????
So what is the feeling on the street Keg? Are many 767 people talking about moving across to the dark side (Australian Airlines that is!)?

Don you're too good. It would be nice to leave the land of sand. But I think you have to give it time. Apologies for the language but a million bev's under the bridge! I'm all for a bit of hiring from o/s.

Leave the sand EK? You gotta be kidding. And I have told you before that you have to wine and dine me before you find out how good I am.
Now when are you going to take me flying Old fella?

Just out of interest - how does that compare to a QF 767 F/O flying similar duties/route/trip lengths?
Have they achieved their lower cost by reduced salaries, improved/varied rostering methods/rules or a combo of both?

Tail Stand, your source is incorrect.
I don't want to go into specifics but the figures look pretty good for a 3-4 year rotating F/O going to CNS and for someone who is about to or has just become a Captain in a similar position bid wise.
Subject to 'official' confirmation of course!
Don, I think one will get knocked down in the rush of currently junior F/Os who will have the chance to be permanent pattern line holders (effectively) and as a majority are single, to live the high life in CNS.
Skippers is a little harder to judge. About 35% of the guys I've spoken with have expressed interest depending on the package. The 'package' isn't that well known at the moment (I only found out about it earlier today (from someone who was speaking to someone etc) but for a junior Captain with out too many ties to their home city of Sydney or Melbourne it could be a good deal- especially if it takes away from the endless MEL-SYD- BNE stuff.
Now all I have to do is convince Mrs Keg to move to Cairns.
Hope that helps. Interesting times!!

Pimp Daddy, for some of the boys and girls going to CNS it could well be a pay rise due to not rotating anymore.
I'm led to believe the efficiencies are mostly in the area of reserve coverage, home transport entitlements, some hotel costs and other rostering 'efficiencies'.
A couple of more senior F/Os and Captains would probably lose a bit if they took it on due to less exposure to overtime etc but I'm not sure how much that would be. The vicinity of 10-15% would sound about right for someone pretty close to the top of the tree. But then again, if they are that close to the top, they are probably looking at jumping ship to a new type sometime in the next couple of years anyway so it is a moot point.

Keg,
You know that the chance to live in FNQ would well be worth the divorce if Mrs Keg is not too keen!

LOL. don, I must be one of the few pilots who is actually in love with his wife! (Don't you just hate all the warm and fuzzy stuff).
Although I would consider commuting if the rosters were favourable but having just had a look at the pay and conditions, only as a Skipper. About the same for pay conditions for me as an F/O.
As mentioned earlier though, will be better for some of the more junior troopies- and those seeking an earlier, more predictable and domestic free command.
AIPA web site has the goss for all those Qantas boys and girls who just 'like to watch'.
