Windows 10 Update Services Problem
Windows 10 updates will not work, I keep getting the following message:
"We couldn’t connect to the update service. We’ll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn’t work, make sure that you’re connected to the Internet."
I have been stuck with this for the past 2 days, any help would be gratefully received!

P.S. The internet is working,

I have noticed the same problem as well..
Not everybody would be unhappy with that
Wait a few days to see if microsoft have something to fix.
Do a restart. NOT a shutdown/power up - in W10 shutdown is not really shutdown, more of a hibernate.
Check drivers for red/yellow triangle flags. (Control Panel/Device Manager)
Fix any.
All of the following take a while to run, don't interrupt them. DISM can take hours. sfc usually not so long.
In an Administrator command window run sfc /scannow
If it reports unfixable errors run it again ELSE goto Finally
If still unfixable errors
Get online (I think this is needed) - In an Administrator command window run
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
If it reports some errors resolved
In an Administrator command window run sfc /scannow
If errors not resolved you have serious problems that I don't know how to fix.
Finally
In an Administrator command window run
chkdsk /f
I have not covered every eventuality. Seek further advice if necessary.
Good luck.

Just if all of the above do not work (They should fix the problem)
You may have tried this all ready. The Windows support page dealing with update problems is at https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/...-update-errors

This appears to be a DNS problem with BT. You need to do a DNS change.
Do a google search for: "We couldn’t connect to the update service. We’ll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn’t work, make sure that you’re connected to the Internet."
The answer to the problem is on sopedia.com on the results page.

Try this... Worked flawlessly for me on a W7 machine that refused to update at all.

My only reservation is that I avoid running unknown software off the internet unless I absolutely have to.
Always best to use sfc to check the integrity of the OS files in any case.

Many thanks to you all for your contributions, I've stored them all for future reference, however, jimjim1, you are spot on!
Having settled down with mug of coffee to launch myself into the intricacies of the bowels of Windows10 I had a quick look at System Update … all was well, it had fixed itself!! I've no idea how or why but things appear to be back to normal.
Once again, many thanks to you all, FZ
