to the guy who wants to fly..

hey is it really that hard for guys to get into emirates...? considering that emirates take in fewer men, do they have tougher standards for male applicants?..

tnx

Hey yall i just got accepted with Al Etihad airways and im super happy ...is there anybody on this forum that is workin' for them?if so i would like to know a lil something something bout how it is there thnxxxxx:p

flybywire 12th Dec 2005 20:48

I find it so unfair/weird that EK don't hire many boys. Also considering that there must be at least one male cabin crew per flight for safety/security reasons. I mean, poor guy, what pressure on him!!!

ccc8139 13th Dec 2005 17:45

man aint nobody workin for ETIHAD?????i would really like to know some information bout the training and u know ....stuff i just started doing my medicals and in one month im coming there too ...so please if anyone on here knows anything about Etihad make some posts thanks

RaverFlaver 13th Dec 2005 20:22

Posting in the Emirates forum asking for info on Etihad is probably why you have recieved no replies!

You may want to try asking your questions about Etihad in the Etihad forum!

Congratulations on getting in with Etihad :)

SkySista 14th Dec 2005 23:55

I believe you are referring to SydEY, I am sure if you search posts made by her you will find some info.

Unfortunately some people here have a thing against EY and posts keep getting deleted, so you may not find much... :(

Anyway good luck in your job hunt!! :)

chicken_or_fish 15th Dec 2005 12:22

FYI

My sources tell me the latest goss from the sand-pit is that crew
(I think just Cabin) that leave EK especially to join Ettihad are NOT given the usual opportunity to rejoin after 6 months as was previously allowed..................(awaiting the back-lash)

kad84 16th Dec 2005 09:15

Open day

Hello,

Don't know if this has been discussed here before, but here goes anyway.

I just got invited to an open day. Do you know does everyone get invited or is there some screening? If you are succesful on the first day, is the other interview usually on the next day? My problem is that the open day is 500 km away, because they are not having any in my country. I would have to stay in a hotel and fly there.

And if I choose not to go now, can I just inform EK and they will still keep my application?

I'm just trying to decide if it's worth all the money and effort to go to the open day. Any advice would be great...

I Just Want To Fly 21st Dec 2005 06:51

Over the last few months I have spent $1300 commuting to interviews. One of which was Emirates. If you pay all that money and don't get in, then you will be even more disappointed than normal. It is like being slapped in the face and having your wallet stoled at the same time.

If you do get in, then of course it was worthwhile.

If you don't go at all, then you will be left wondering.

I have tried the commuting thing, and it hasn't worked, so I'm done with it! No More! But that's me...

You need to look at the money and ask yourself, "How would I really feel if I was rejected after having spent so much money?" If you think that you will go and throw yourself off a bridge, then don't go. But if you feel you'll be ok, and you wont get to upset, then go for it.

I have been to three Emirates Interviews, and I was only invited to one of them, sadly I couldn't go to that one!!!

Good luck!

ohh dear

seeing all this post really makes me very sad....

some of you really want the job and still failed to get in even with all the money spend on travelling, buying a nice attire for the interview and even the "hope"

if i were a recruiter for this airline i would surely hire all of u...unfortunately im not...:\

thought i'd give this old thread a bump.

sydney open day was a train wreck for me! this time instead of calling people back, they had little letter things at the back of the room, and it told you if you were successful or not.

I expected sydney to have a lot of 'the beautiful people' compared to the perth one i attended. but there was only an abundance of attitudes and lots of testosterone, of all the guys that had no idea what to expect and were ready to compete at the open day. at least a 50-50 ration girls to guys.

still i managed to meet a few nice people. there are still friendly girls and guys in this city.

group interview day: the group i was in , had about 4 Power-Talkers and basically controlled the circle not letting anyone else say anything. and unfortunately i got cut at the first round, which was a suprise from last time.

on an interesting note, one girl i met has already been given a fly-out date of jan 12 or 22 ( i cant remember) even though the interview was only 2 weeks ago! supposedly all the candidates that got through have been given early january start times! what happened to the 6 weeks and then medical tests and more waiting?

while this question has been asked many times and not answered, i still plan to go to the next sydney open day which is in feb, even though its within a 6 month period of the last one, and maybe 12 months of the one before that. but im not sure if they really do check, or just want it to be fair.

Emirates/ Slave drivers

Dear All

Just a word of advice. I work for EK at the moment and to be honest, the country and the company beleave that all expats should be treated like slaves. Hence they are so arogant and people get stuck in this country as they hand out bank loans and credit cards like hot chips and people get stuck here for years just paying off their loans. Luckily I have been one of the lucky ones who had someone to lead me through it all and moving home to oz soon. EK recruitment team are so overworked as well as exisiting cabin crew keep on resigining each month and new aircrafts arrive which need new crew.

The moral of the story is that EK will get somewhere however in 20 years perhaps.

Re: ANYTHING having to do with Emirates Applications

Well EK are holding yet another Open Day in Perth on Jan 21st. Of course as always I'm going just for a laugh and to see how many ppl turn up in casual clothes (yes, meow!!)

Think this time will wear something really far out, and act like i don't care, who knows maybe it will work!!! :p

So if any of the 'old hat' people here are going, let me know. Sharon from QF, if you're reading and you're going, see you there!! You know who I am, I bumped into you at checkin about a month back!! :D

And, a bird tells me that yes, things aren't as rosy as EK would have u believe. Still, I wouldn't let it get in the way if flying with EK is what you really want. A job is what you make it and I know people who have been very happy there and stayed a long time.

Good luck guys!!!

Re: ANYTHING having to do with Emirates Applications

give em hell!
you could always carry a clip board and just make notes about everyone while they are waiting, cause some paranoia there.
and if you manage to stumble into the group interview, i would pay many many dollars to hear you say to the 'powerwenches' "We know you want to get noticed, but how bout you shut up and let some of the other people talk for a change?" or something much nastier, you get the idea. that would be awesome.
errr im not bitter or anything :p

Re: ANYTHING having to do with Emirates Applications

CANNARD!!!!! ROFLMAO!!!!!!! :p Literally, I'm just about peeing my pants laughing!!!

OMG!!! I soooooooo should!!! At the moment obviously I'm past the point of caring really, (which may be a good thing) I would dearly love to put someone in their place....! Or perhaps during the Q&A ask if the figure of CC leaving is true (and quote it?!) :p

I can hear people saying "dont go, leave the place for someone who wants to get in" well seriously anything is worth a try maybe this time they're looking for people with the guts to stand up for themselves etc.... so why not man??

As for the clipboard idea, HA!!!!!!!!! :E
