BA EuroFleet to QF(UK)

Does anyone have any experience of moving from BAEF to QFUK? Regrets/Positives/Negatives etc.
Thanks for your help

Somehow I doubt it. It would require you to leave BA and join QF on worse terms and conditions when you could hang on in BA and fly long haul all over the world instead of just SIN,BKK and HKG.

Hand Solo - The issue is short-term vs long-term. My Mrs may not want to fly forever (thumbs down to the "hang on in" idea) and QFUK pay more in the short-term than BA. The roster she saw the other day is lots more days off for lots more money. Obviously if she decides to be in it for the long-term it's a no-brainer.

Ta anyway

Sickbocks,

The roster she saw the other day? I'd like to see a QF UK roster like that. I know quite a few people who left QF for SF LGW at BA and are, according to them, better off.

Their is no contest BA hands down.

Perhaps if she applied to both and once she has an offer of employment from both she can make the decision.

Qantas v BA

I've been offered a job with Qantas, but I'd really like to work for BA ...

A couple of questions -
If I apply for BA WW now and get offered a job, does anyone know when the training is? I couldn't actually start until March/April. What happens at the end of the 11 month contract - I know it says there's no guarantee of a permanent job - but would I be able to transfer to a different fleet or do you have to reapply with the possbility of being rejected? Also, what is the 900 rule? Is it that you can't fly more than 900 hours in 1 year?

Would it be better for me to take Qantas and then apply to BA a year or so down the line? I've never been cabin crew, so think it might give me a better chance of getting in with BA if I have cabin crew experience.

I'm just a bit worried that Qantas will become boring for me because they only fly to 3 destinations ...

Also, are Qantas' cabin crew really seen as the 'UK's most outstanding cabin crew'? (as indicated on an advertisement on a couple of cabin crew web sites).
Thanks

Superboy - the fact that people are leaving to go to SF LGW speaks volumes - I thought it sounded to good to be true regarding the roster. Think she'll stay put.

Fancyflying, I answered a similar question to yours on the one of the BA threads.

People do generally go from QF to mainline BA, not many the other way round unless it's due to contracts.

If you are offered a job with QFUK and turn them down, you are pretty much dead to them after that. They won't take you back in 11 months. At least that's what I've been told. I'm open to correction on this but I would be reluctant, if I was in QF recruitment to take someone back because they "wanted to try BA".

As for being "outstanding", I have yet to see evidence of ANY UK airline that can honestly make a claim that their crew is superior. Some may have better training and may have more support but generally crew from all airlines will try to do their best with what they have to do their jobs. Of course, there are some crew who don't have the best attitudes but you can't confine them to one airline.

A qf reply

Seems funny all these replies and none of you work for QFUK - I do !!
I like it here - each to their own really - our turnover is same as most UK airlines - we are however NOT QANTAS AUS - the sooner people realise this the better - we were opened as a cost saving base just like all the other overseas airlines at LHR....
At interview all candidates are told of the routes/conditions/pay etc etc so no one can moan about that.
we work roughly 4 on 3 off - ability to change rosta is fantastic so could do a back to back then get a week off or change trips to begining of rosta and have the rest off or pick up extra flights etc etc..
money is good to be honest i have no probs there - paid basic plus sector pay then allowance down route - save it and earn more spend it earn less - simple really.....
we have 3 great routes and yeah they can be tiresome sometimes but hotels are cool - so if dont wanna do much just lay by pool etc etc.....
some crew love it some crew dont and they move on !.
we are recruiting heavily at mo as most of the original aussie guys are now going back after 3/4 years.
Promotion is great here and fast if you want it - On board managers/trainers/recruitment/ground staff etc.
Its surprising to see the quite a lot of crew that have left to go to BA now want to come back - so grass is not always greener !.
As I said earlier - each to their own - not every airline is perfect but I wouldnt leave here as very happy.

Hello wan2fly at last some positivity from somebody that knows what they are talking about

When working for QF(UK) if you get pregnant do they give you a ground job? Do you get part time after or is it straight back online?

Ta
