Red face Alpha Flight Services paying Commision ( Or Not)

Well are we the flying orange brigade the only airline to not be getting our commision from Alpha. We are mean't to get 5% Commision but some of the crew have been here for 2 years and should have been paid somewhere in the region of £1500, but have been paid £250 Max....!! Is it true the bond guys are on the rob?? And why is it the packers leave the blue seals open..? I think its for the van guys to help themselves!! Any other suggestions and ways to improve and get Whats Owed to us!!
PS Can you tell me if all other airlines get printouts from their bars detailing bars +/- and dates etc... I would love to know.

I, for one, have learnt not to include commission from alpha in my pay! If I do get it, well then it is a 'Brucie Bonus'. The £5.20 I received last month, after completing 44 sectors just goes to show that someone is on the fiddle! Best thing to do is to make a list of the bar takings for that month, work out 5% and then show it to those at HQ who are supposed to be working with us in regard to commission...

You just never know..!!!

We're lucky in that Alpha don't pay our comission..BA do...it doesn't stop them loading our D/F bars a few items short...it either happens when there's a new range out or during December....funny that! We're also lucky that if there is stuff missing & we've done the correct p/work we get no comeback from BA & I sympathise with the horror "bar downs" & reduced commission stories from pals at SBE &TLA

Thumbs down

Our Department {in its infinite wisdom) decided after umpteen years to actually give us commission - then found that all too hard.
So now, they take all the commission and divvie it up amongst the top few sellers (and CSMs to ensure it gets pushed on board).
So if you get it assigned to you once in a blue moon - someone else will get the fruits of 'your' labour.
{Don't even get me started on the crew that operate short during the service so the Duty-free gets done! }

To any Orange Brigade Crew!!!!!!
R U getting ur commision? Did you know it is illegal for Alpha to take our commision against our discrepancies? The reason being that it is not written into our contract. It says we receive 5% Commision on our sales (which may be variable.
Well from a meeting I went to last week if we took on average £300 per bar, and worked 15 days per month(as if!!!!) we should receive £75 commision per month, when does that happen. Well as crew we should all stick togethor on this one and bring a Group Crew Grievance up with easyJet(Our employers) as I for one am pissed off with working my butt of, selling products for nothing. Why not lets boycott the bars for a day all over in LTN and LPL and see how Alpha like that!!! I bet it would be sorted out fast.
PS If the grievance doesn't work the Union TGWU will support all members and will help us get our money back, but we need more members, so if you want to join and get whats owed to you get in touch and lets get our money. If any one sees this from LPL/LTN print it out place on the crew notice board and Lets Stick Togethor on this one. Also if any old crew have been here 2yrs then you should have received £1590 , Have You ( We think not). Going to the person who deals with commision in LaLa Land you get the response I can't be bothered with it any more!! ( Nice Attitude from the Tea and Biscuits Dept.)

Maybe a (radical) solution to your problem guys....get together with your union (if you have one) or organise it yourselves, to NOT sell on flights at all. They'll soon agree to give you your comsission when the $$ stop rolling in from lack of sales !!

I agrree Tarantella, the current system we have SUX !

Were lucky we get paid our commission from our company. PACE is a good UK union. Give them a ring.

Cool

Well the Orange Brigade have decided to get togethor and form an Alliance. We are about to present a Grievance from most of the crew along witha petition to LaLa Land and see what response we get. If no response well Alpha will see a dramatic drop in profits for September as the Bars will remain sealed. Lets see what the Tea & Biscuit Department think of that!!!! PS If you see this from Luton or are Luton based please do not hesitate to email and have your name included. Petition forms will be arriving in Luton early next week.
Any other problems get in touch with your local Union rep!!! They are there to help you!!!!!!!
PS Has anyone seen T.Kerridge!!

1)On your next flight, when u gash in with your gash bags in the cabin (surely they should be in fire containment bags anyway ?)retain 10 empty coffee cups and take them home and wash them
2) Proceed to Makro
3) Purchase catering size of Nescafe
4) Place heaped teaspoon of coffee in each cup (except the top one)
5) Take to work, resell - profit £9 per flight

"I CAN recommend the coffee sir - its home brewed..."

After 52p commission last month, I was looking forward to purchasing a packet of jaffa cakes and receive 2p change!! This month however, things are looking better. Over £100 !!! Many thanks to those guys 'n' gals who have sorted out Alpha and Disney Land. Will be interested to see if the commission stays at a regular rate....

Please inform me if everyone at Luton is getting roughly the same. As 12 months ago we all kicked off about commision & recieved a lump sum ranging from £80.00 to £160.00 then again this then disappeared & we went back to the usual measly £££££. Get in touch with me via my e-mail [email protected]
Also 50% of the crew in Lpl are now members of TGWU & according to the Union rep. they are about to go for automatic recognition, Hopefully we can help Ltn crew do the same so we are not walked all over as we have been in the past. Print this out & place in the crew room on the notice board by the vending machines.
PS. Anyone else want to get in touch your welcome. Happy flying from nettoJet (It's scouse for value.)

Careful about recycling the Kenco cups - the spies are out & quite a few have been caught (at LTN at any rate).

Yeah but are you having the same problems as us? No tea, mags with Dairy Milk, but none in the bar, not enough sandwiches!! What is the Tea & Biscuit Department doing in La La Land? Did you get your commision this month? Get back let me know, I am sick to death of slaving me guts out for nothing! We should be paid £3.60hr from Alpha... has anyone printed these comments out for the LTN Crew room?

If your reference to being paid £3.60 an hour by Alpha is something to do with the UK Min Wage then forget it - you ain't empployed by them but by EZY which has subcontracted a service out. If you had a contract with Alpha then you would be right.

Good luck.

I found this letter in my drop file any comments , and anyone else receive it????easyJet Cabin Crew

"This letter is formal notification of a Department Grievance against easyJet and Alpha Catering by the Cabin Crew. The nature of our grievance is Commission, in laymen's terms we are not receiving our 5% Commission on the sales from the easyKiosk.

In our Contract of Employment which also includes the Company Handbook, it clearly states in the breakdown of our salary that we will receive 5% Commission on Sales.

For a number of months, even years for some crew there has been a major discrepancy in the amount of commission we receive. In the last 10 months this has increased to a point where some crew are not receiving any money from the sales they make on board the aircraft and others are receiving stupid amounts from 52p - £349 (Which the latter is impossible to attain.) There have been many times we as crew have been told it is being looked into and still nothing happens.

We would like you to make this grievance a matter of urgency and remedy the problem.
The Cabin Crew as a whole are entitled to their commission. In the position you are in you are fully aware of the amount of money being taken through the bars daily and of how much commission we should be receiving. We are led to believe from yourself the reason we do not receive commission is because individually we may be in deficit with Alpha Catering. We have investigated this matter legally with an Independent body and have been informed that Alpha deducting discrepancies from Our Commission is illegal. We refer to the Employment Rights Act of 1996 and the section of Illegal Deductions from Earnings.

We all believe in the same philosophy as our founder Stelios, if something is wrong then fight. As he has done with many people BA/KLM and Barclays amongst others. What Alpha Catering is doing is firstly wrong, secondly illegal and thirdly destroying the morale of the cabin crew.

We would like you to remedy the problem and liase with Alpha to gain our commission and get it paid to us. The cabin crew on board work really hard and sell on the bars, sometimes in excess of £700+. Below is a brief summary detailing on a low bar and an easy scheduled month the minimum commission we should be receiving:

A bar operates a 4 Sector day:- Ltn-Ams-Ltn-Ams-Ltn and takes £300

£300 divided by 5% = £15.00

5% of £300 is divided by number of crew on board (3 mostly)

£15.00 divided by 3 = £5.00 per crew member.

If each crew member works for 15 days that month and takes £300 every day

£5.00 x 15 Days of work = £ 75.00

That crew member should receive £75.00 commission less Tax & Insurance.

You know as well a we do Steve, we take a lot more than that every day and work a lot more than just 15 days. If you use the above as an example and times that by the number of months a crew member has been with the company it soon mounts up to a substantial sum as below;
3 months with easyJet = £ 225.00
6 months with easyjet = £ 450.00
12 months with easyJet = £ 900.00
18 months with easyJet = £ 1350.00 and so on.

You will probably understand our frustrations over this matter. In Geneva the crew apparently resorted to refusing to sell their bars, which then resulted in them having a contract with another company. They now receive their commission, is that what we have to make happen before something is done?

We as a crew have sought legal advice on this matter and we are informing easyJet via yourself that if within 28 days this matter is not resolved to the crews' satisfaction then we will have no other alternative but to commence legal proceedings in the form of an Industrial Tribunal. We hope we do not have to resort to this and hopefully can resolve this matter amicably and set a precedent for the future.

We the crew at Luton and Liverpool look forward to hearing your reply via the e-mail address you received this letter from. We as a group are willing to sort this matter out and discuss fully with you exactly how we should go about this matter.

Yours Sincerely

The Cabin Crew of easyJet Airline Company both at Luton & Liverpool."
