@janaay

Hi there,

I am not in Abu Dhabi but I think that you have to do the vaccinations they require in your home country! Your doctor will than acknowledge your vaccinations and you donthave to do it again in Abu Dhabi! You know it very unhealthy to do the vaccinations 2 times, therefore either in your home country or in Abu Dhabi! What kind of allergy do you have??

My question for the Medicals is about eyesight!!! Are you required to wear contact lenses and what are the limits for dioptres? I remember that EK did not have any limits but you are required to wear contact lenses! Is it the same at EY????

Hi, ohhhh I dont really know! But you know that Etihad flies to South Africa and to Far East so you might need some vaccinations for your protection! My best friend is actually flying for Emirates and he told me that you have to hold something like a vaccation passport to be licenced as Cabin crew!!! I dont want to put you down..I really dont know but in my oppinion vaccinations are very important for people who are flying from country to country!!!!
Good luck to you!!!I hope that everything will be fine!!!

Indeed, a 'on hold' email is better than nothing.. but it doesn't make the waiting any less excruciating!

I finally got my 'on hold' email tonight, after almost 3 weeks of waiting. I received a call just before too, which was very considerate and professional of them I think

They said that at the moment they are holding ALL applicants, regardless of the position they are applying for. And I am so insatiably CURIOUS as to WHY

Hey guys!

What do you think is the reason why Etihad is holding the applications?

I hope they will give us some idea..

For sure, my application will be on hold too...

But, Let’s just be happy… look at the brighter side of it.. It’s better to receive the “on hold” email than to receive a “rejection letter”… right guys? I know it’s very hard to wait especially if we are waiting for this kind of thing… All of us are excited to know if we are hired or not.

Congrats on getting the job Harry.

I agree, it looks like EY have over recruited and now have a backlog and thus not enough courses to put people on as they have all been filled. Then again, I don't work for them, so I am merely speculating.

I sent my application yesterday and have received an email stating that I have passed the first round and that I need to call them regarding an interview (to answer more questions I think) Any tips? It was through ASCG, so I don't know if I will be calling them or the airline.

Devil To Midadi

Hi thank you for your sooo nice answer! As i told you I am not fat!!! I dont have the ideal BMI!!! And I have never had any health problems because of my 6 kg over weight!

The best to you anyway!
Sorry If you misunderstood what I said. 6kgs is nothing. If you BMI is ideal, then great. No health problems, fantastic.

I been over in the M.E. for 5 1/2 years and was trying to give you a bit of insight.

To goldenboy you are right, she should be fine as her weight looks propotional to her height then its gonna be alright.

Good luck to you, may I suggest to join a gym when you get here, cuz take it from me. LIFESTLYE, THE FOOD OVER HERE, CREW PARTIES, DRINKING AND MIN REST DOWNROUTE. Can cause you to add a few kgs. Its the min rest down route (or the hangover from the crew party) that really demotovates you from using the gym at the hotels where ever you stay.

You are going to have sooooooooooooooooooooo much fun over here.

good news

Hi all

For all those who have received the "application on hold" email i have some good news guys
A hungarian girl who has already been working for EY informed me that all the training buildings are full (cos 4 types of training are being held at the same time) and the accomodations as well, almost all the 4-5 star hotels in Abu Dhabi are packed with people who's having the trainings. BUT they desperately need new people, there's no question about that, they just simply unable to hire more at the moment due to some technical stuff. 3 more Etihad accomodation buildings supposed to be built by the end of december, but it seems it won't be ready on time.
So she told me to be patient it's just a matter of time. In this case the 'on hold' letter is the best what we could get

Hi guys,

Carefull with these guys.

They keep on lying . They just tell you what you wanna hear...

Cabin crew control, rosters are getting worse and worse and being sucritinized by Management.

Sick leave monitored, reporting culture, if you know QR reputation and didn't want to go there, don't join EY, we are heading the same way....
heading... skidding would be more appropriate

Take care and watch your back. You know what you're leaving.... Grass in not always greener on the other side of the fence.

Especially if you are coming with different background, hotels, food and beverage environment, you will deal with unefficient, unprofessionnal, selfish as well as lazy uncultured silly managers, cabin and ground personnel included.

Otherwise Abu Dhabi is quite nice, hell in summer, but average is good, safe. EY sucks, that's it.

Sofia, that is most likely the best paragraph I've ever read.

It makes sense.. plus I tend to naturally lean more towards the more hopeful side of things anyway, heh. It's always sweet to have something big to look forward to.

Dear Ali_xander,

Yes, unfortunately I'm

I did this choice a while ago, left civilized world to come to unknown third world. Now I'm stuck by other contingencies and I wish nobody does the same mistake as I did.

Take care

I think you're quite mistaken. Wasn't Abu Dhabi recently recognized as literally the richest city in the world. The UAE is definitely different from what most of us might be used to..but not 'third world' by a long shot. Or.... by 'third world' you mean the people??

And yeah, they provide people with a contract, but if you want to leave the company you can resign and then just up and go.. same as most other jobs..

@ aghazale

I agree to what ashela said! The whole life is not a game! You will never find a job where you are 100% satisfied with!!! If EY sucks, why dont you leave tomorrow???? There are soo many people telling that EY is great to work for and some tell exactly the opposite! And you have this effect at any f***** company on earth! Some like it an some hate it so just leave if it is making you unhappy!!

By the way, are you arab???

By the way, are you arab???
How could that be relevant to any discussion of anything, anywhere, without applying a national stereotype? (which would be a very bad thing...)

@TighSlot

Hi there:-) no no no i did not want to dicriminate someone because of his nationality! I am myself arab:-)))) therefore I asked him/her. Some Europeans dont like working in the Middle East because of differences between the country they moved to and the country they come from and later they will come back...but if he or she is arab it would be very interested why this person wants to leave EY although the majority is telling only positive things about Etihad!!!

cheers
