Thanks Sinala1 - great info!! More crew need to see your posts!

Went to DM office to look at future trips. Most seemed pretty much the same as now, but a couple a big-mamas jumped out at me. ie SYD - PER - ADL - MEL. Yuck. Somebody said we could do that now? True?

Still looked like plenty of overnights (for BNE at least).

Funny, but as much as I looked I couldn't see any LAX trips..hmmm.

Sorry Leanne7 I was being silly. VB plan to be flying to LA in the next year or so. I was making a little jab because they seem to be trying to extend our duty hours with the promise that domestic crew will be able to fly longhaul as well - one division rather than two. Thats all excellent and very exciting, but as Sinala1 says we need to sign our EBA on the basis of our current operations as opposed to any future uncertainties. Many crew feel we were mislead last time because they were offering us 'international' in the EBA and then all the international flying went to a NZ company. It's a trust thing which many of us have little of at the moment.

And you a right - the LA trip would be much easier on the body than syd-per-adl-mel.

Hey from VA!

Hi Guys,

I read these posts with interest from over here in London - currently on the exchange.....hearing loads of goss from all over the place bout this EBA and the negotiations.....

Concerning that there are so many groups going through in MEL at the mo - we can't have a repeat of last time when the new guys voted without being correctly informed......

Not long to go over here for us now - hoping that we get a chance to vote - it has been long enough coming!!!!!

PLEASE spread the word over there and make sure crew are informed about CAP 371 - as you guys have been saying we need CONFIRMED info before we vote and accept ANYTHING - how awful would it be to lose our conditions - we can't work more hours and earn less - how rediculous!!

Will have a drink or two for you in New York this week - be good and see you all soon!!

Oz

OzFlyBoy glad to hear you are having a laugh over there!

Its my understanding that the crew who are going across on #4 do have the ability to vote in the ballot, so I would presume you guys do too... maybe email your CCDM for confirmation?

Another RUMOUR I keep hearing is that they will not be offering a payrise at all... anyone able to substantiate that? I hope not!!! I am, of course, keeping in mind the fact that a lot of what you hear in the galley is b.s, but I have been told by someone else that we are definately NOT getting 3% Per Annum over 3 years...

Interesting times folks, interesting times

Especially if we do end up getting these Embraer 190's - multiple aircraft endorsements for crew? EPS to include B737-700/800 and EMB 190/195 Do we get paid more for that?

embraer.com
Smallish sized jet for regional flying. Rumours of this floating around last year I think.
Apologises in advance if mods think link is against forum rules.

Sinala as for the 3% rumour. The story goes like this: there is no guarantee of any pay rises under EBA's. It is up to the parties negotiating to work out what pay rises should be included or not included. 3% is a general figure that seems to be floated about as it is the current/past rate of inflation. A real pay rise would be in the order of 4% per annum and no pay rise would be a pay decrease in effect. Galley FM is kinda like WHo, Famous, NW and all those other mags.

Haha yeah I am well aware of that -never believe what you hear on galleyFM - at least thats what I tell people when my name comes up in reference to a certain room party in HKG, but I shant talk about that here
Apparently inflation is currently 4%, so we would need 5% per annum for it to be a payrise! Not to mention cost of fuel etc - can we charge the company a fuel surcharge?

And from what I am hearing from the pointy end of the a/c, we can expect the embraers before international kicks off... they have also been making reference to regional flying in the EBA forums etc

Changes on Day of Operation

Hey everyone! Concerned employee of VB requesting any reliable info on exactly what changes to roster on day of operation may be permissable under new EBA/CAP371/work rules. This should be of huge concern to us all, and the details must be nutted out and clearly defined for all our benefit. "Discretion" is the buzz word, ie how many hours may our duty be extended due operational requirements on the day? How many hours may our rest period be reduced? Any heads up? Can our sign on times be pushed into the next sign on time slot in order to increase our days duty time? Take it easy all.

Hi Sambom,

Sorry to say that none of that information has been presented yet - I would not be surprised if we have to wait for the final document to learn that kind of detail

Unfortunately folks the devil is in the detail on this EBA - its going to be vitally important that words such as "discretion", "may". "will endeavour" etc DO NOT appear - we need black and white!

Make sure everyone reads up and gets a good thorough knowledge of it!

Hey everyone,
its interesting reading all this about your eba and all your conditions... im flying for NJS atm and have just scored a job with VB.As i had been a contractor on the ground and knowing a few crew and comparing to what i do now... you guys slog your guts out!Im not in the union atm... but i will be joining it the moment they offer it in ground school...
i know its not really of any importance, but ill gve you a rundown quickly of what the drw crew usually do....
our rosters are done on the GENEVE CREW MANAGEMENT SYSTEM... its one a month(so this month its 1st-31st) i have 10 days off and my duty hours are at 133 with 9 days off cause i was drafted for one... its rare to get 140 as its then overtime.we only do overnights out of darwin,so its hard to compare it to the day flying you guys do.i have 9 overnights this month and 9 days off..we also have buffers around out days of and reserve days(not sure if you guys do)obviously we dont have a bitting system cause its eith ASP OR PER for us... but in each port we have 24 hours and the usual 10 away from base if they need us.our reserve days also are 1/3 of the actual duty time(eg 6hour reserve= 2hours duty)
we dont have to clean..except in GOV as theres no cleaners, and our turnarounds are 40mins.My longest day is 8.5hours and can be rostered up to 12 with no rest sector....
I also saw about the double endorsements, im current on the Bae146 and 717 and get no extra $, and ep's and dual CTL are bi*ches!!
I hope you guys can negotiate something great as ill have to work under them jsut like you guys...you are right about the newies, they dont know their conditions, theyll get called to work and say yes cause they dont know better and want the job... untill theyre tired and their work suffers and it affects the other crew.jsut thought ild throw a different perspective in as you never know you guys might be able to negotiate something fantastic...im hoping you all can and fingers crossed and hope i get to vote on the new eba as well

Hostee you can find all the current info (as far as I am aware) from the union at http://www.faaadomestic.org.au/domes...inblue/eba.htm

Its important that you and your fellow trainees all make a 100% informed and INDEPENDANT vote - listen to what the company tells you in training, but take it all on the chin - ask questions of your fellow crew, and ask them to back up their answers with FACT and reasons as opposed to emotion and hearsay.

Vote yes, vote no, but have a REASON of your own to vote the way you do

anyone heard anything lately? I'm getting restless. Everyone is saying that we are so short staffed because people are quiting. any basis to that? hopefully only the whingers are going!

Sinala1 is right - newbies need to understand how important this vote is! Maybe we should be going to wings nights and spreading the word!! Are we still allowed at wings nights? hee hee - many a memory of free drinks....
