The QF Shortlist Countdown...

24 hours (approximately) before we should hear something...

Extension? A "Thanks but no thanks"?

The moment we hear anything, could we post it here please (as in OFFICIALLY from QF)...

It's D-DAY!

Hey Guys.....the day is here!! After all this time - AAAHHHH!!

Have heard so many rumours.....that this is IT (ie. no more QF for us), that we WILL be used - just not now, that we will be interviewed again (just one more to see if we are still 'suitable').....the rumours go on!

All I can say is - GOOD LUCK to my fellow shortlisters - here's hoping for FULL TIME, PERMANENT possies.

See you all in training.

Hi fellow shortlisters,

We're all just sitting here like vegemite sadwiches waiting for some news to arrive about recuitment.

I have heard from QF recruitment that there is NO positions as yet. Apparetly they have taken on 10 people from Perth but that is all..don't ask me how they got in, probably through MAM.

They even said that they have been contacting "most people from ths shortlist etc and offering them positions"...i dont beieve it but who knows.

Anyway to cut a long story short, they will possibly be recruiting again after June. So keep sitting tight peoples...there is still hope for us yet....

Im still waiting from a respose though...today's the 31st Mar

Anyone heard anything yet?
Not me!
Doesn't suprise me that they don't even have the courtesy of letting us know by the date they set. They can't even stick to their own word by telling us they'd be in contact before end March!
Not feeling so good about this at all.

I think you'll find it is the Eastern and Sunstate crew moving through progression which they have been waiting for somewhat more then the current shortlisters have.

Ironic isn't it - it's April 1st, and still no word.

Ironic in the sense that it's April Fools' Day! LOL!

Angry

I heard that everyone on the shortlist will be getting a letter in the post, don't bother checking the emails people, it's probably a waste of time.

Who knows what the letter is going to say probably that we will have to re-apply...sooo disapponting considering how much it has already co$t to get this far.

MelbGirl - Who told you that? Sound silly really - considering they could save SO much money just by emailing us a 'thanks but no thanks' response!

Just think of the savings in stamps - could be enough to put on another bunch of overseas based crew!

Fingers crossed the opposite happens though!

Biscuit Chucker - Here's hoping you're right!

At long last...received this morning...

"I refer to the correspondence dated 26 February 2004, which stated that your Flight Attendant application would be extended on our short list until 31st March 2004.

Firstly, our apologies that no notification was provided to you prior to 31st March 2004. This was due in part to our confirming of possible recruitment opportunities, which delayed our advice to you.

I now wish to advise you that opportunities for Flight Attendant positions may be available mid 2004 and in view of this we would like to extend your shortlist application to 28th May 2004.

Should opportunities arise within this period, it may be a requirement, prior to any offer of employment that you participate in a selection and a review of your application. This will be advised to you at the time. You should be aware this advice does not amount to a guarantee or commitment to a position with Qantas.

As the short list will be continued it is important that you keep all your documentation such as First Aid Certificate and Passport up to date. Should your personal details, or documentation change these may easily be updated by amending your application form directly via www.cabincrew.staffcv.com.

Yours sincerely

Recruitment & Promotions Co-ordinator,
Customer Services"

It is increasingly looking like QF management are stalling on the issue of fulltime recruitment. [Sorry if I am stating the obvious to those on the short list]

The planned flying and cabin crew numbers required for mid year would be calculated by now so it seems the issue of more full time staff will be determined by the FAAA and its dealings with QF on the overseas base issues .

It is clear that the FAAA will firmly resist any increase in base numbers that exceeds the predetermined figures set down four years ago. Although AKL it seems, will employ another 30 CC bringing numbers up to around 180.

QF risks serious industrial action if it tries to breach the agreement or if it tries to open up other overseas bases to fill the need for more long haul cabin crew.

The only other spanner in the works for those on the wait list are the transferees from shorthaul.
I understand more than 100 have come across since late last year.
Anyone out there know how many are left still wanting to transfer???????????

Hang in there shortlisters. I doubt QF want a fight on the foreign bases issue as it would be sure to lose any public opinion battle by seeing to be trying to export more jobs overseas.

Having said that it does seem that QF management greed knows no bounds

Ahhh what a relief..

I finally got my email today too..extended to May 28th.

What's another 2months waiting in the scheme of things.

Congrats to all of us on the list, we haven't just been dumped like hot potatoes like previously thought...we're still hanging on there!

Got mine too!

Thank god or whoever....

Had a moment of panic when I checked my email and there wasn't one there ..... then I realised it wasn't my account I was looking at! phew!

I'm sure we'll be offered jobs in May! (yet again, I hope anyway!)

You guys all have the patience of Jobe!!

Though I am now out of the FA game, my girlfriend is not, and she too has received a similar message. It comes as no surprise you are left dangling once again, and make no mistake that is what you are doing, dangling.
I hate to see false hopes raised, but the inclusion in your new round of waitlist extensions mentioning, with a good dose of sugar coating I might add, that re-interviewing is the more likely outcome means all your efforts and success in the last process counted for zip. Only QF could be arrogant enough to do this, it's worth mentioning, many pilots short listed applications have met with similar fates. I can not for the life of me understand why you would be acceptable 12-18 months ago, but now require re-assessment.

You all seem a very positive and supportive bunch, and I hope QF HR dont suck that out of you. I do hope you all get to where you want to go, just make sure you dont put your life on hold and waste your time waiting EVERYDAY for the call up. Just get on with your lives and be pleasantly surprised on day when it does eventually happen.

Hear hear 34R!

All too true - one day I questioned a Qantas HR person about that rationale (ie. how come 12-18 months ago we were good enough, but not now...etc etc)...

The response: "Well - we recruit people to fit different profiles at the time - and if, over time you have not been offered a position, we need to see if you still either a) fit that profile or b) fit the current profile on the day..."

You're right - we all have incredible amounts of patience. Let's all just hope this is rewarded, in time, with a permanent full time flying position in the base and divisioin of our choice (chances are almost zero on that one - but there's always hope!)

Good on you guys!!
I went to the interview for language speaker Sep 2002.
My short list has expired in Dec last year after they extended it for 6months. I have not heard anything from QF since then.

I actually turn them down when QF offered me MAM position just before my short list extended. so I guess that is the reason.

Well,,, Good luck for all of you.

You all deserve it!
