If for example Sunstate merges with Eastern and Sunstate Flight Attendants are no longer employed under the Sunstate EBA or vice versa for Eastern crew than those crew transfer to Qantas as the company they were employed under no longer employs them. Eastern or Sunstate cannot just merge crew and place them under a new company or EBA this is what they tried to do with Southern. Southern as a company still exists, it was just the Southern operations that were intergrated or merged with Eastern.

Hope this helps.

Kaka,

They don't specify whether it's short haul or long haul, it's just a general short list for any positions that may open up.

Kaka,

We are on the QF shortlist. In the group interviews, they asked each person, "do you have a preference for long haul or short haul" and "do you want casual, permanent or fixed term"? I can't remember if they asked if you had a preference of where you would like to be based? but I just said anything and anywhere.

Not sure if this is any indication of future recruitment, but in Long Haul we are really short of crew at the moment. We are being taken off training courses to be put on flights, being put on standby on flying lines (internal jargon for ' sh*t we are short of crew!! ' )

Something will have to change soon, and there are strong internal rumours of up to five more destinations internationally next year.

I arent sure how many people are on a year's leave without pay, but they had better get them back soon, we are really short of crew!

Here's hoping this may mean recruitment for you guys on the shortlist !

Thank-you!

Thank-you all so much for your nice words and messages...I am very happy although it is hard to believe when it does happen-I told the lady on the phone who called me that I'll believe it when I see it on paper or perhaps when I put on the uniform!

We all know how tough the whole process is on the old heart and soul-preperation for interviews, rejection, trying again and again, waiting and hoping then missing out,the list goes on and on...at the end of the day you know that you do have what it takes to do the job!
Just some advice for those waiting for the call-try to make sure you can answer your phone whenever you can-I didn't initially and nearly missed out,the lady who was ringing around told me she was going down the list and and not leaving messages!!She told me I got on that particular training school only because the girl before me said no!
Very frustrating I know!
There are several training schools running from 21st Nov with people from Mel ,Brisb and Syd-most think that QF short-haul is over staffed at present but they are introducing the flelxi hours option very soon where alot of crew will be dropping hours for more flexibility.
Despite the uncertain,unpredictable,and turbulant(no pun intended?)times ahead-I can't wait!

Hope to see you all up there some day ...

Take care and a HUGE good-luck & as Kath & Kim say "fingers and toes" to those waiting .....

Hi Guys,

I have also been on the shortlist (MAM) for 15 months- I havent received a call yet regarding a training school-I was wondering if anyone else has (other than Wing 8)- or has heard of anyone receiving a call. I am Melb based.

Wing 8 - Congratulations, Im sure your still on Cloud 9-its been a long wait!!

Good Luck to all-hope to see you all in a school soon.
