dont worry you'll have a blast in Dubai- party is all that you will do!!! The middle-east is a very sociable place in comparison to the UK- it's because all the expats are in the same boat away from home so they like to socialise! I worked for two years as crew in a neighbouring middle-east country and I've never partied so much- you will party in dubai and when your down route- it depends on the crew you have- sometimes when you go down route you are glad to have a rest and do nothing. My friend is working for EK and she loves it- there are some amazing clubs and restaurants in Dubai- you can take them or leave them- and you will make loads of friends flying! I would'nt have any doubts leaving the UK for Dubai- go for it!

Accommodation is pretty nice. Good experience. Very hard work and crap contract. That's how you could summarize EK!

Hi All,

I recieved the good news last week, i have been accpeted into Emirates!! My DOJ is August 29th as i have loads to do before i go, sell the car etc....

Just wanted to let any Aussies know who are about to do their medicals that if you go to a bulk billing dr they will do pretty much everything free for you! The only thing i'm paying for are some of the vaccinations and they are cheap! Oh and i have to pay for the dentist but with private health cover it doesnt work out to be much.

I'm really excited to leave for Dubai! The only thing i'm a little bit sad about is that my boyfriend will be moving over there around about the same time for work (he's in real estate), and as the Dubai laws dont permit for unmarried couples to live together i will be living in the emirates accomm and he will be in his own place :o( (we have lived together for the past 2 years). Oh well, much better than him staying in Australia!!

I'm looking forward to seeing you all over there! xxx

Accommodation for visitors in Crew appartment

Good luck and all the best to the EK joiners! Wish I can join soon as well!

I do have a question.
After how long can an Ek crew apply for a visitor to be accommodated in his/her apartment? Is it necessary to pass the 6 month probationary period to apply for?

Thank you very much for you answers!

I´ve started to do my medicals today. Everything has been fine so far just I have problem with vaccinations. In my country, we don´t havethe vaccination against the yellow fever recently and I´m not gonna be able to do it until I have to send my medicals. Could you pls tell me if I can send them without having it? :ugh:
And another Qs concerning No of Plates used in Colour vision test. What is the general No tested?I´m asking because my doctor forgot to write it and I´m not gonna see her as she is too far so I wanted to write it there.

To be or not to be that is the QUESTION...

Hi Midadi!

I used to worked with QR. I attended interviews with alot of airlines. Unfornatunely, if even I'm ex-Qr staff it didn't give any guarantee that I'll get it.:ugh:

Do you think I should go for an open day assessment? Since, here in MNL that agency who's handling it are like projecting that you have to PERFECT " BARBIE doll" just to get short listed. ( no blemishes, scars of course etc. )

Thanks.

words of wisdom needed!

Hey Nikuska and people who WANTED to become a CC!

I have a question. Hope you can help me. I'm now here in MNL to try again my luck to become a CC. Unfornatunely, even I worked with QR it didn't give me any guarantee to get CC position.

Do you think it would better to attend an open day assessment in another country? The major problem here in MNL, the agency who's handling EK is very strict. You have to be perfect to get shortlisted. :uhoh: Meaning you should be a BARBIE DOLL.

Don't get me wrong but I saw CC from different airlines and some are not what you think it is.

Hope you can help me. :ok:

Emirates - Wannabees & Recruitment IV

Hi All,

I will be starting with Emirates on the 29th of August and i'm so excited to move over to Dubai!!

My partner will be moving over the same time for work (he's in real estate) and as we are not married we will have to live in seperate accommodation (we have lived together for the past 2 years).

Just wondering if anyone has done this before with their partner? Moved to dubai and not lived together....? Will i be able to see him enough? Will i be able to stay at his place even though the law does not permit it? I would really appreciated some help and advice!!!

Thank you xx

yoghurt_girl85 20th May 2008 08:35

Hi all, my first post here.:ok: Even though I'm not with Emirates yet (going to open day next month!!). But I guess only u guys can help me with my question!

I've searched high and low about the flight patterns to AKL and I can see that it's only a layover!! Is this true?? Can someone add more input to this please?? I'm from AKL so it would be devastated to not have time to see my friends and family if I ever get a AKL flight!!

Any information would be much appreciated! :8 Thanks in advance!;)

Letsfly 20th May 2008 10:13

Bkk Syd trip has a turnaround to Auckland and then you layover in Sydney they same with the Brisbane trip via Singapore.

The only trip with a layover in Auckland is Melb Auckland which is a direct flight to Melb...24 hours in Melb, 24 hours in Akl and then 24 hours in Melb again. We stay right in the city in Auckland.

Re: Letsfly

Thank you so much for ur input!!! Another question, so if I get AKL flight, would I be able to request for 1 or 2 days of leave (in AKL) and fly back on another flight?? Also, mind if I ask how much allowance u get for the AKL? Thank you again!!:D

yoghurt_girl85 20th May 2008 11:56

ID please..!

Hello everyone! So nice seeing so many people joining the big Emirates family!!! Congratulations people!!!

Am a newbie and attending open day next month at Christchurch!! I have a few problems and wonder if anyone can help me out!

I am a Asian girl and I match all the basic requirements (e.g. height, arm-reach, education..) But I am really baby face..:ouch: I always get asked for ID when I go into bars and clubs..friends who just met me always thought I'm 16 or 17 (I'm 22 btw:8) This might be a advantage for me along the track :p but would Emirates consider me not professional-looking enough for CC??? Please help out!!

Also..I'm still an undergraduate at uni (doing Psychology and Film, TV and Media studies as majors). But I just want to take a long break from study and work for a couple of years then finish my bachelors degree later. Some of you have mentioned that with a degree in hand it proves to the recruiters that you are 'determined' at getting things done? Will this be another disadvantage for me too??? What should I say if they ever ask me about finishing my degree?? How can I turn it into something positive??

Sorry for such a longggg post  but any input is much appreciated!!! Thank you in advance!!:D

Letsfly 20th May 2008 12:07

You can't stay longer in Auckland as you have to stay with the same crew for your whole trip. Not sure how much you get but in Sydney you get about 105 Aus for 24 hours.

JustinG 20th May 2008 13:42

Letsfly!!! Did you happen to see my question a few posts up there?
