Thank you for sharing this! I don’t remember them saying as much at my assessment day (it was a while ago now though &#128517 and the lack of contact got me sweating. That’s comforting to hear. Tbf, their job sounds like a logistical nightmare too.

Oh no! Do you know if they had failed a component? Like the swim test, drug test or physical tests?

153cm is in range. They would have bumped you following AD if it was an issue.
Remember, next call is giving you a start date for GS. If you got through medical it's just a matter of waiting.

You are spot on Elena. I was the only one in my AD group to progress...That is the most important part of the overall process

Physical tests. Lifting the weights and coordination were issues

Good Luck those waiting 😃 i start GS on NOV 7 can’t wait not to far off now. I met a Qantas cabin crew at my gym who works in recruiting at Qantas. She told me Qantas still make candidates unsuccessful even after medicals as they do a final excec review and cull at the very last stage. Also she told me your AD date has no effect on GS date as they fill GS on rank markings so someone from September AD may get GS date b4 someone who did AD earlier as they scored higher, that’s why they continue to recruit as they want the best candidates for the role.

How long is the typical wait between doing medicals and receiving the golden call?

It all depends. You will get the call once you're allocated to a GS.

My conversation with someone internal is that you could be made unsuccessful after medical, but it is VERY RARE and only if it is a EXTREME case. So if we passed everything, it would nor be a problem.

so to whoever is waiting for medicals, you need to make sure you can life a 10KG dumbell one hand and do couple bicep curls and life it over shoulder, and you need to be able to lift a 20KG sandbag with both hands and push up pver head few times.
push ups x 15, side plant 30 secs. in short, start to do some exercise and practice if you are not a generally an active person.

Obviously not all assessment centres are the same....

I had no sandbag, no 10kg bicep curls, no push ups. Planks were 1 minute each. Weight over head was 32kg, not 20.

Congratulations Kuiky!!! That call makes the wait worth it.
Pity we aren't in the same GS. Mine is 2 weeks earlier.
