Hi Dazzy,
I went to their assessment day today, and if successful will be commencing ground school in November as well. When was your AD? How long before you heard back?
Cheers!

Hi Guys, you mention you have been selected for GS. Have you had medicals? Is it almost guaranteed you will be at GS once you have to do meds, sercurity ? If you could shed some light on the picture that would be great. I've had the above nearly 3 weeks ago and haven't heard anything!! GS starts in 2.5 weeks Thanks.

GS medicals

Hi Dhintz
I've never "officially" been told I have "passed" medicals and security (and I did mine months ago). I did call and ask once and was told it shouldn't be a problem. I've been given a date, time and place to start, and pre-reading to do. Therefore, I would say, go with the "no news is good news" theory - turn up unless you hear otherwise!

Mel GS

Hi Dazzy
I did my AD back in Nov 2012 - so it's been a very long wait for me. All the best with your GS - might see you around.

Hi Katvo,
Hope you enjoyed your AD. I went to mine in Aug. It got told I would be going to GS on 25 Nov 2013 as long as the security clearance and medicals are all ok. Don't see any probs.

Hey I had my phone interview on monday the 23rd of september. I just got a notification that there will be an AD on october 16 (next wednesday!!! ). I got this notification and said that I am happy to attend, does this mean I am definitely going?

Also I have a holiday planned from Nov 23-Nov 28 does anyone think that will be a problem? If successful when would GS likely be .

Thanks!

Hey guys and girls, received an email from Altara saying I've been successful and invited to an assessment day. What does everyone else do to prepare for the day? Knowledge wise and preparing for the interviews and such? Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Andrewwa

Good luck for your AD day.

A JQ MEL GS has just finished. Another is starting in late October and then another in Late Nov I believe. I am assuming this is to train up crew for the dreamliners coming online. I don't know if there will be another GS after that. But, if you're worried about your holiday, I had a very long wait for a GS - I have been on active hold since Dec 2012 and start GS in October so if you are successful and miss a GS due to a holiday, I guess you could be on active hold until the next one.

Altara AD

Hi Markymoose

All the best for your AD. I would say familiarise yourself with where JQ fly to and the company values. Otherwise, just be yourself and go with the flow. Be honest in your answers and your approach. Be friendly and talk to other candidates from the work go. Ensure you know WHY you want to be CC. They are looking for people that can be part of a team, so it's important to keep this in mind during the day.

Hello Markymoose,
Good luck with your assessment day! I definitely agree with Picasso! I was invited to an assessment day early this month, and am waiting for my references to be called(soon I hope!!!).
I thought I'd add that during the interview you may be asked a few behavioural based questions, as they want to see how you would react to different situations. For example 'tell us a time you had a really difficult customer, what was the situation, and what did you do? What was the outcome?' Etc... So maybe try and think about specific examples from your experience.
Make sure you are dressed in business attire and be presentable, and finally be prepared to stand up and talk to people. You may be put on the spot to see how you handle yourself, and if you can speak clearly, and to everyone. I have to add that they are all so lovely, and down to earth. Be yourself!
All the best!

I also have a question to ask:
A few people that I have kept in touch with have already been offered a start date, and the go ahead for Medicals/ASIC etc. I was informed that my references may be contacted, however they haven't been called yet. Does this mean I am out? Or they have filled the positions? Or simply because they just haven't come to my application yet? I know this is a timely process, but any information would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

Start Date

Hi KatVo
From what I understand, they had/have ALOT of people on active hold (this could explain why I had to wait so long to commence my GS). It could be that they are simply starting the people who have been on active hold the longest. You said you did your AD earlier this month? I did mine last November and I'm only starting GS next week.

I hope for your sake you don't have to wait as long as me. Don't lose heart, they're probably just going through the people they already had. Or perhaps they're doing it in alphabetical order?!? All the best.

Picasso that is a long time!! You must be so relieved now that you will be starting your new journey, enjoy ground school!!
I'm just concerned that people from my assessment day are already applying for asics, but no checks done for myself. Perhaps they tried but no answer. (I hope they try again if that's the case!!)
Did they check your references/send you for Medicals etc recently? Or did you have to do it soon after your assessment day?
Thanks again for your response!

Hey Picasso11,
Thank you heaps for the advice! I'll defiantly look into the values on the website and study! Also thank you for the encouragement! All the best with your GS!

Hello KatVo,
Thank you also for the encouragement, and all the best with your references!
Just a few questions though, I recently had a phone interview with TigerAir, was asked that question, and answered with "I would try and calm the situation down and go and get my manager" unfortunately I don't think that's the answer they were looking for as I was knocked back. Any advice?
Also business attire, do you mean neat shirt and suit pants, or full on suit and tie? Thank you!!

Hi MarkyMoose
I'd go the full suit and tie if you have it

In terms of your answer, I would suggest that they probably want YOU to be able to take ownership and deal with the situation yourself - not only knowing what to do (in terms of following SOPs) but also having the confidence to do so. Asking the pax what they would like and how they would be satisfied (as long as it fits in with SOPs of course) could also be a good answer. Use your fellow crew first and then consult your mgr if you can't resolve the situation yourself.

Good luck again!

Hi everyone. Last week I got the email from altara saying I got approved to attend an AD and would be advised when the next one is in my area. (I'm in BNE) just wondering how long people have waited to actually attend an AD after receiving this email? Also has anyone is Brisbane got this email as well?

Thanks
