Fly Away

Hi Fly Away

I think it depends on how far your friend got in the last OD. I think (and somebody correct me if I'm wrong) that the 6months/1year waiting thing only applies if she did a final interview. I know that this is the rule for other middle eastern airlines but I'm not entirely sure about EK.

I think they are quite strict on reapplying before the waiting period, they may hold a record of your cv etc and so will recognise you from this.

I'm sorry it's not a more definite answer, maybe somebody can verify this?

Pokes,

how did you found out about your officer? My page doesn't say anything (still:/), I'm aware that 13 more days to join is 'a lot' but I guess as someone said once, patience is the biggest challenge here

Waiting much!

Is it typical to wait longer than 6 weeks after the FI?? I'm approaching 6 weeks and still haven't heard anything...

Yes it is possible, I have been waiting 8 weeks and they called me on Sunday to send photos with more make-up. So I suggest wait till the 6 weeks have past and if you still have'nt heard anyting I have a contact number and email you can use to get a answer quicker.
p.s what does your status say on the EK careers page?

I attended a assement day in January this year and fell out in the last round, I re-applied online in April and attended another assement day in May, and got the the FI stage, so I'm not sure that the 6 month waiting period is so strict. I think if they recognise you, it might be a problem, but it's unlikely they will. If you make it to the FI and you are then unsuccesful you have to wait a year, and I do not think you will be able to take a chance with that as they then have your information 'on file' from your FI.

Waiting

Thanks for the response! I just checked my status: "Advert closed". I actually didn't complete all my details online and rather chose to "walk in" at the OD. So I'm guessing that's why it says nothing about my progress. Out of curiousity, what does your status say?

I was under the impression that you have to complete everything on the online application form as they won't be able to move on with your file if it's not 100% complete. I thought everyone has to fill up the online application form, even if you attended an Open Day. Yes, it's walk-in but my friend had to fill up the online form in the hotel before the Final Interview. Later on you need to download the medical forms and do some online courses (pre-studies) before travelling to Dubai, I guess.

I have no idea what "advert closed" really means, I can't recall this message from any of the ppruners. Although, feel free to read back in this topic: people regularly posted their status.

Flying Away,

everything I know about the recruitment process, I know from pprune. (I was hired many years ago. It was different.) Your friend should go for this OD but she has to fill up a paper where she's asked if she attended any OD before. So, in this case, she should answer with "No". Maybe they don't keep records about all the applicants but only about those who made it to the Final Interview once.

I'm sorry but I don't know for sure. The recruiters are not able to check it right there but the HR can find out anything if they have information about your friend in the system. One of my friends was invited for an AD but she did not attend. Her status turned "not attended" later on, so it was checked and documented. There are ODs with thousands of applicants. I doubt that Emirates has the capacity to put all the records to the system, though...

Anyways, I cannot confirm anything.

I have read about people (on this forum) who did not apply online and just simply attended the OD. The online application is merely a means to a end to recieve a invite to a AD.

You in addition do not need a online profile to go through the process, because at the OD, or if you attend the AD univited you must provide photographs and a CV. That is why you do not have to give them a CV and photos at the AD, because they already have it printed out, hence the stacks of paper surrounding the RO's.

If you get the FI you fill out the info they need to process your application, and you are required to give them more photos that they need for your file in Dubai.

As I understand the candidate portal and the careers page is not the same thing (website)? Maybe someone can advise on that?

The 'advert closed' simply means that the position they advertised on the EK website is closed and they are taking no more applications for those positions. If you did apply online, it would have changed to 'application under review' or 'applied'.As you will notice the positions for UAE citizens who have to be fluent in Arabic, is open, as they do not have a set time frame because you can drop off your CV at EK offices whenever.

My status changed to 'approval in progress' 2 weeks after my FI.

Keep me updated on your progress!

I just remembered we had to state before the final interview if we have ever been interviewed by EK and when, on the documents we had to fill in, with our signature stating that the information given is truthful and if found that it is incorrect it can lead to disqualification.

detailed info

Dear Flaphandlemover,

give the address of this forum to your friend. If she can read, she will find detailed info, hints and tips about the recruitment process in this topic. You can also suggest her to google "emirates cabin crew".

BigAl,

do you want career advice here?!

Obviously, it would be totally irresponsible of you if you didn't go for the job interview as you don't have positive answer from Emirates yet. First of all it's not a job opportunity, it's just a job interview. Why would you tell about EK at your interview??? Are you Saint BigAl who is protecting the bloodsucker employers?! (They don't care about you, why would you care about them?!) Of course you won't say anything about Emirates but take the job if you get it. As you will be on probation for 3-6 months, you can leave without any explanation during this period of time. You can obviously try to ask Emirates about your result, as well if you have phone and internet.

locked out of candidate portal

hey guys,

So I checked my application status and it was "under review" after my FI, however now I can't even log into my account. I haven't been able to for about 2 days now it says I have an invalid email or password. It's so weird cause I was in the portal 3 days ago and it was working just fine. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
