What does "good" mean to you?????

Some ppruners got Obaidulla, as well. Write to them and ask. (Use the "search" button above.)

And no, it's not a good place... Sorry!

Required medicals for cabin crew by Emirates

Anna,

If you are successful, you will get all the forms from Emirates.

I read your post about the spine operation. I remember that we have to fill up all kind of papers in Dubai and they ask about these things. There is a general doctor who examines you as well. Your situation is not easy: I'm not sure they want to take the risk with this kind of "problem" but Emirates is not as strict with the medicals as Qatar. They might send you to a specialist, I guess, to confirm that you are fit to fly. This might affect your isurance coverage, as well.

You should pm to ppruners who are already in Dubai and recently passed the medicals there. There might have been similar cases. (Read back. Lots of people posted their date of joining.) They should know more. The info below is very old, ask them about the required medicals or read back: the list was posted a couple of times already.

I hope you are fine and healthy and you will be able to pass without difficulties. Good luck!

Height and Weight
Your doctor should weigh and measure to ensure that you fall within the minimum and maximum height and weight restrictions.

HIV/AIDS Test
This is checked again by the local authorities on entry in Dubai and under no circumstances will they issue resident visas to applicants who test positive to HIV.

Chest X-RAY
X-ray films with the date and patient name on them AND a radiologist’s report in English are required.

Haemoglobin
Anaemia can lead to difficulty working at cabin altitudes. A haemoglobin of less than 10gms/dL is unacceptable.

Audiogram
An audiogram must be provided to cover the 500-3000Hz range. If you do not meet the standards, you must provide a report stating you have passed one of the acceptable alternative tests.

Pap or Cervical Smear Test – FEMALES ONLY
Report of cervical smear taken within the past 3 years is required if you have ever been sexually active. Evidence of having undergone the test such as a doctor’s letter is acceptable until a report can be obtained. You may choose not to undergo this test on the proviso that Emirates will not cover you for any related problems in the future.
The PAP test is NOT required if you have are a virgin.

Ophthalmic Report
You should complete this form ONLY if you need corrective lenses to meet vision standards or have undergone LASIK or PRK eye surgery.

VACCINATIONS
Vaccination Certificate: This should be completed by your family doctor. If these vaccinations are incomplete, the cost of having these vaccinations when you join the company will be deducted from your salary.

DENTAL
Note the requirement for dental X-RAYS. Certificate of Dental Health: This should be completed by your dentist.

Well, I put "obaidulla" in the searh and tried to find posts. I did find some, so according to my search, you could have written to EKIstanbull, gerjana, Lpedrao, yulimaga and PerthGirl and ask their experience about the building, the apartments and the area.

Al Qusais / Obaidulla Buildings

There are 6 buildings situated on the same street together called obaidulla. I can say apartments are quite new and they re big. 2 bedroom apartmens. You`ve a market called Spinney`s just at the entrance of your building but it`s quite expensive compared to Carrefour in the city centre.
Building is good or bad ? That question really depends. Obaidulla buildings are quite far to the city. If you want to go to headquarters by cabin crew bus..it takes you 30 minutes. If you want to go Jumeirah area takes you 40-45 minutes at least by taxi and will cost you about 25 dollars just to go there.. But i can say around the building its quite green with the grass and trees.. better than Al Nahda area buildings.
But if you say you party a lot and you ll go to city too much it`ll cost you much by taxi if you use it often..but on the other hand if you want to move to a building in city centre (i can say even you live in city centre you still have to take a taxi to go everywhere/ theres a metro built but that metro has camel speed ) . And you may end up sharing your bathroom and toilet with someone else and also consider you might have an old building..ups and downs...i live in obaidulla 1...

Od's in Mexico City

Dear Mari and everybody for sharing your knowledge and experiences, it is very helpful to us hopefuls!

I'm from Mexico and an Aviation School does the prescreening for the asessment days, I was succesful at the prescreening back in 2008 but I was a bit overweight and was told to lose it and advise when I was ready for the OD with the Emirates Recruiting crew. Due to economic crisis and everything, there were no OD's until march this year. I've lost weight and I am readdy to apply, I have worked for two major airlines in america and majored in hospitality and tourism. Hopefully my background and work experience will help me to succeed in the recruiting process, I will try the OD's in Mexico City in August 26 and 27.

Do you know if there are cabin crew from mexico flying?

I know have asked this zillion times!!! but I get confuseddd, I have two nautical stars tattooed on my chubs (sides of lower back) they will obviously never show, just wanna confirm, I shouldn´t mention I have them right?

anyway thank you guys for any guidance you can provide, if there is anyone from mexico applying hit me up.

thank you guys!!

Hi everyone,

is it allowed for crew to leave Dubai in first 6 month? If I have studies home and wanna take my exams, may I leave UAE just for couple of days? Know it's 30 days free annual but what about policy during probation period?

going home during during probation

Wakeboard,

I'm not exactly sure what the rules are but they will let you know during training, I guess.

What I know: my flatmate went home twice during probation. (With id tickets. And she didn't ask her manager.) In her case, she did not get leave during probation. She started in December when we were really very short of people. So, she has 32 leave days for the second half of 2010. She's in the 380 fleet, so normally she gets 4 off days in a row, at least once in a roster. (If you could swap you could win 1-2 extra off days in addition. Unfortunately, swapping is not allowed during probation.)

Your case might be different and you might get leave even during your probation. I don't know how tight the Main Fleet rosters for G2s nowadays but you might also have 3-4 days off in a row. (And might not... Depends on your luck!) There is no guarantee to get the leave you wanted! I asked for Feb, I got May. I asked for September, I got October.

You can always try to talk to your manager when it's something important but they are usually not very supportive... One girl got leave during probation which was taken away later. She needed the leave for her wedding... They don't care. You might be lucky and if you really fight for it, you might get what you want.

Open Days

Hello,

I attended an open day in the US last month and was eliminated after the group discussion.
However, I received an email from Emirates just a few days ago inviting me to open days that will be held in the US this month.

So I was wondering if it is okay to attend the upcoming open day.
I heard from someone that you need to wait at least 6 months to reapply.
I'm assuming Emirates didn't have the time to update my account to input the record of my attendance last month because my online application still says "under review" when I have been eliminated

Would someone please clarify?

About EK OD

hi there,

Fascinated by everyone`s experiences of all the way to become a cabin crew.I can I am one of you guys.

I got few questions in mind at the moment, hope could get some ideas from you since I noticed you are from Toronto? so also went through all the stages in Toronto as well?

It is really a pain for me to struggle between going for the open day in Canada or my home country. The two ODs will be 10 days apart. I tend to assume that I would stand better chance if i go back home? Does local advantage apply to EK recruiting, what do you think?

Even if I stay in Canada, I have to attend OD in one of the cities here, I have to travel either to Toronto or Montreal for AD if i`ll get selected from the OD.So,,,really difficult....and I know big cities like Toronto, the number of people going there for this, must be overwhelming....

Sorry to bother you. Wish you all the best
