Q

Hi People!
''Why not become a flight attendant?'' A random thought that came into my mind a few months ago. I did some research on this but some basic thing are just not clear for me so maybe from your experiences you could give me some further info. So im a twelfth grader and i read that you dont necesseraly need more education to join as a crew member. Now my question is if you know anyone who have applied and passed with no work experience after high school? You think its possible that they pick a person like this? Think its worth a try.. or dont even waste my time travelling to an OD of a big airline like qr (or the others we all want to work for)?
Thank you for the advices and help.

i dont even know what test youre talking about actually... when i did the examinations for the eye all they did was check how bad i see with/without lenses (by reading the numbers on a board, the usual) and checked that japanese dude's colour blindness test. and thats about it. :S and i sent those and they didnt ask for more.
consult your doctor, maybe its not even abnormal to have those spots (since theres a blind spot in everybody's vision...)

umm.. a 12th grader in my country would be max 18 ys old. if you are that much, you cannot be hired. qatar airways only hires ppl who are above 21 (uhh was it 20 or 21, i forgot haha, but i think it was 21), they say it in their ad
other than that youre right, you dont need any higher education to be hired.

silvia_air

hey silvia, just the report is fine.. as long as the doctors have commented on the scoliosis and other things that they should've commented on.. there's no need to send the actual x-ray photo..

usagi, when were you tentatively booked to travil to Doha?

what was the date of you sending in your medicals? and you didnt have to redo anything right?
i sent them my last report (coz i had to resend some things) on the 17th of august... on the 19th she confirmed that she has received them and nothing ever since. i sent an email asking about the status and possible date of start last thursday, but nothing ever since.
i think if you feel more comfortable with it, you could send an email but i really think it wont change a thing, whats more, i think it wont even be answered.. im sure they are busy. if you really wanna know more i suggest calling them, even though maybe even then they wont be able to give you info. but oh well, give it a try.
ive been waiting so long im really depressed what frustrates me the most is that i see people who attended ODs months after me and they sent their medicals after me and they get cleared and noting, no news at all for me. its like my profile really got lost in a black hole...
unfortunately i cant do anything but wait.
i hope you get cleared soon too! as well as all the others who are waiting..

Well for me i sent them my medicals on the 27th of August, didnt have anything to re-do. And never got anything no reply or anything watsoever, i have been waiting and im so fustrated too.. it gets so annoying here.. maybe its because we are eager to go.. hehe.. but hopefully we'll be cleared and certified medically fit to work for them.. and who knows we might be in the same batch of people who are going there..

One other thing which might make them slower to reply is Ramadan, its just a guess.. i mean i dont really know how working hours could be affected by ramadan.. but yeah.. dont lose faith usagi we are all together in this..

thanks kagezen
oh, one more thing, did you get confirmation that they have received your medicals? if not, definitely call them because it happened before, that they didnt receive somebody else's and she didnt even know until later... lost a lot of time with it. so just in case, if you hadnt received confirmation, give them a call

thanks for the advice usagi.. i mean here most of us didnt get any replies.. im in contact with most of the people who went through the medicals.. 2 of them had to resend stuff, like the chest x-ray and all.. the rest including me and 2 other people that is 3 of us didnt get any replies.. no confirmation or anything.. but from wat i've been calculating for most of the people here.. it takes an average of like 20days for them to reply.. but for you its been more right?

changing the topic onto something else... during training, i know that girls and boys are separated.. but in class, are we seated in groups around a table? or everyone in rows like in a lecture room? funny question :P but i wana know.. do you have any ideas on this usagi? thanks

actually i have absolutely no idea of the training XD only know what bunny gal posted earlier. i always imagined it in a lecture room though :o

yes ive been waiting longer than 20 days.. yes probably now things are a bit different.. but back then when i started with my medicals everybody got a 'we received your medicals' confirmation within a week (it always took me seven days). but if you say that nobody else from your batch did this time, i suppose things ARE slow...... or whatever. i really dont know if its because of ramadan or not, but things look really really slow for me all the ppl i knew from my batch are already cleared.

well, best of luck to all of us.

i mean i've been watching a few vids on youtube, for some airlines they are in a lecture room, others the people are divide into little groups and sitting at a table.. usagi if your medicals are good.. then there's nothing to worry about, i mean the rest have been cleared.. your turn is coming soon and yeah thanks for the help.. i mean before this i was totally lost and not knowing wats going with the process.. if i see you in doha, i'll buy you a pepsi.. haha..

question for everyone

Hi! I would just like to ask something. The set up we have here in Manila is this, QR is connected with a local recruitment agency that process all our papers from open day until the whole application process ends. The agency is responsible for everything (i.e. sending our medical results to Doha, visa, etc.) Seems like most of you here send your medical results thru your personal emails, right?

So far with our batch, the whole process happens fast. Exactly 1 week after the final interview, we already received the email from QR to proceed with medicals. Now that we are done with the medicals, we were told to wait for maximum of two weeks, but our agency told us that they usually get response after a week only. This local recruitment agency that we have here has been servicing QR for the past years.

I hope all of us will soon fly to Doha. The waiting period is excruciating. I want to resign already.

Starbitee

well for you guys QR hires a lot of people from your country and i guess thats why they have an agency there. Whereas for us they dont hire too much from our countries so we have to do everything on our own.. and im guessing that the agency has more priority over indivuduals..

Carpediem

Keep updating us.. we like to hear stories of the people who are actually training.. how long was your wait to get medically cleared from doha? how are the classes there like? how's your apartement? how are the teachers? from the open i went to, i was told that they are really very good..

Good Morning.

Yes is that...I'm sending all papers through my personal email...here in Portugal we don't have that agencys...I got the receiving confirmation of my medicals this sunday...and now i hope this is the last wait till get there...I don't know what to do about my job, and if i should apply to others organisations but the truth is i can't without a response from QA...from one day to another we can totally change our lives...good luck for everyone, specially for those who are waiting so long like usagi27.

thank you so much to all of you guys!!
i really hope that you all make it sooner or later too! even if you feel like going nuts (like i was) just keep on waiting..
well, now up till the 25th i wont really have news haha. just one thing: they make you sign a really detailed confidentiality document so no wonder if nobody says much later on :x i wonder if its allowed at all...
also, you receive a list of what the household has and what you should pack, haha, seems pretty useful!
also theres a quite detailed grooming regulation sent to all who make it.
wow.
