Oh goodness Blue it's so hard waiting for the news, I know...
I had my assessment on the Thursday afternoon and then they called me on the following Monday afternoon. Unfortunately I was in LA with my current airline and missed the calls because of the time difference!! So when I tried to call back it was gone 7pm uk time and couldn't get hold of anyone and spent the whole day and night in a state of torture not knowing if I'd been successful or not...then managed to get hold of them the next day and they told me then! I think that was fairly quick to be honest. Over on cabincrew.com there are people still waiting to hear from the 5th and 6th so think they must be snowed under in recruitment. Just out of interest are you an internal or external candidate?

Yeah my course date is the 16th September......
Hope you hear soon and everyone else who is waiting. I think maybe they wanted to notify external candidates quickly because of the fact we have to give notice, anyway fingers crossed for you!

Uniform Stores LHR

Hi all apologies for going slightly "off topic" here....

I have my uniform fitting at LHR soon and I just want to check where I can park! I asked uniforms when I booked and they mentioned that I can park at West Base - I'm just wondering where this is in relation to the uniforms place and if I can park for free? Any info will be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

BA mixed fleet

Hi Emma! I believe that at present they are only recruiting for Cabin Manager... Have you tried to check on www.britishairwaysjobs.com ?
Good luck!

West base is just up the same road as Uniform Stores. It's the large carpark at the top on the left. To get in you go through a barrier that opens up automatically but to get out you have to swipe your ID. If you have not got your ID by then I am sure someone would let you out.

Thanks Betty girl - is the car park manned by anyone or will I just have to wait until someone happens to come along?! Maybe uniforms will hep me out on the day as will not have a BA id yet by that time.... thanks again for your info

Georgie,

It is not manned but there are lots of BA people going in and out so I am sure if you explained why you were there they would be happy to let you out. Also while you are in uniform stores there will be other staff using the car park too so one of them I am sure would help you get out.

I always think it is strange that you don't need an ID to get in but you do to get out!!

Georgie,
Thinking about it, there might be a buzzer by the barrier and someone might be able to let you out that way!!!

Hope you enjoy BA and the new Mixed Fleet. I have not put in to transfer and will remain on Eurofleet which I absolutely love but we will probably pass each other in the crew report centre. Good luck in your new job.

Mixed Fleet Re Assesment

Hi Newbies,

Went for assessment day on 3rd sept, it went ok and the team were very relaxed with us, found out 3 days later id got it.

In the interview they asked more questions about crew conflict, past experiences of and how you handle it so just something to bare in mind.
They said they may recruit externally in autumn / winter time do keep looking on the Ba.com careers website.

Good luck all

Gatwick Base

I may get offered a LGW base for CC... I say maybe.. but in the meantime... do new contract people (even temps) get the basic salary, and flight pay, same as the new MF-LHR contract. OR... do they get any extra allowances on top.

If anyone out there knows, that would be really helpful.. Many thanks in advance..

If you come to LGW on a temp.contract you will only get basic and flight pay approx £2.40 ,no other allowances.(i.e.same as a New Fleet contract).Hope this helps.

Tomkins

Thanks for the info on wages - was a bit disapointed about allowances but I expect that is everyone's complaint with recent newbies.

Do you get decent layovers/night-stops or is that a thing of the past?

Any info on this would be appreciated... Thanks again.
