Hi!

BA have a large hold pool of eager new crew but until the current strikes etc are over with then they simply wont launch any new recruitment.
A lot of what the current CCrew are striking about is about the hold poolers and the new contract but i have a friend in CC recruitment who has been advised that phone calls to are likely to commence in the summer or maybe earlier....also i think if you are in the hold pool it is indefinate or "moving forward" so dont worry and good luck!

BA Holdpool 2008/2009

Hi all
Just looking for people who are in the hold pool, from 2008 or 2009?
I have been waiting since Feb 2009 - mixed fleet (although my profile has now been changed to LHR only on BA.com)
Has this happened to anyone else?

I thought with the new concessions, all new hires will be on a contract that would net £ 1100 a month including allowances paid at that hourly rate. I thought as well the talk is that eventually short haul for both Iberia and BA would be merged into one low cost carrier, crewed mostly out of Spain, or atleast these were Walsh's plans.

Hold Pooler since april 09

Hi Elldee

Yes! I've been in the 'Talent Pool' since April 09 and getting rather impatient now - also, I'm down for LHR Mixed Fleet and that suits me fine. I've been thinking for some time that B.A. will franchise of shorthaul, so I think when they say, mixed fleet it will be mostly long haul - just my thinking any way.

Stay in touch.. and good luck!!.. 747Girl

External recruitment for New Fleet has begun.
British Airways Careers

It also seems the hold poolers are being asked back in July for re-assessments

Only for Customer Service Managers (SCCM) at this point.

Closing Date: 18th July
Customer Service Manager, Band 3
Salary: £25,000

This opportunity is open externally to Senior Cabin Crew Members (SCCMs) (past & present) who have 24 months full time or equivalent flying experience (with 12+ months on Longhaul) within the last 5 years of which 3 months should be in the last 3 years with BA or another airline.

A SCCM is responsible for the delivery of cabin service standards and ensuring safety standards are adhered to in a single cabin or the entire aircraft. A SCCM is responsible for the performance of other crew. Longhaul experience can be defined as sectors longer than 6 hours, intercontinental routes and operating on the following aircraft types: A330, A340, A380, 757, 767, 777, 747 or equivalent aircraft types.

Hey DukeKelvin!
Its just ex temps, internal apps and holdpoolers at the moment, maybe after we have all been recruited they will start externally again - check the website, there is a place you can register for updates (I believe)

CSM Vacancies - Mixed Fleet

Hi All!

Just a very quick question. In the process of applying for this role. Currently working for VAA as a CSS and on the BA Careers site it mentions that one of the requirements (under the Expertise section) is "Knowledge of Scheme". As an external applicant I just wondered if anyone knows what this is and how I can find out a little more about it. Many thanks

Not sure but would guess they mean flight time limitations scheme - similar to your airline.

Scheme is the CAA flight time limitations. It varries very slightly from airline to airline but not much. What they mean is if you get the job they would expect you to have a good knowledge of this. I doubt they will ask any detailed info of this in your interview.

Can I just give some of you some advise about going for CSM with BA.

When BA have interviewed for senior crew in the past eg. Cabin Service Director. They expect you to be able to give examples. Eg. when you have had to give negative feedback and how you did it. Positive feedback and how. When you have had to manage someone when they have done something wrong and you need to have documented your example and followed the incident up also. They will want you to give examples of when and how you motivate your crew. They want you to talk about the airline, ground staff, pilots and your crew as one team working together.
They may do a session when they make you role play as a CSM and they pretend to be a crew member and give you a senario to deal with.

This will be a very tough interview because this job is effectively for a manager off the aircraft as well as on the aircraft. They want these new CSM's to be a manager and role model with the highest of standards.

Good luck.

Midoy 10..It's simply not true to say that BA do not recruit outside the UK, besides there are laws against racism within companies, especially in the area of recruitment. You sound to me like a BA reject! Please do not make rash and unsubstantiated statements.

I actually make more flying as main crew for a regional airline in North America than what these new managers will make on a wide bodied aircraft. With the amount of responsibility that will be required, I cannot fathom how one could be happy with £25,000. One thing that has turned on this side of the pond is that more and more new hires are not accepting these jobs making it more difficult for companies to pay 1980's wages.

Hi Yaletown

Can you tell me if the Customer Service Manager at the £25K salary is the basic with allowances (flight pay) on top. Or is that the whole salary... end of!..

Angel

It is the basic. I think they quoted, in the Daily Mail, estimated earnings of £35,000 after flight pay and bonuses for performance related tasks could be achieved. Flight pay is only 2.40 per duty hour.

Hopes that helps.
