It's similar to that one (it's a pusher :p) but it's not French mate!

Noyade 1st January 2012 21:13

but it's not French mate!
American? Civil? Twin booms?

Wing root at top left?...

American yes, civil yes, twin-booms no!

Not their first pusher, maybe the second and their next was to be a whole lot bigger and more!!

Edit: Yup, that's the wing root!

Noyade 1st January 2012 21:42

Fascinating challenge mate! :ok:

Going round in circles here and I mustn't be entering the search criteria correctly in Aerofiles. My immediate thought was a Convair product but it has twin booms. The search goes on...

Early start tomorrow mate?

SincoTC 1st January 2012 21:49

My immediate thought was a Convair product but it has twin booms.
A very good thought that!

The search goes on...
I'd recommend that too mate and stick on the same page, 'tiz not a very good challenge though as all the keywords are there :( !

Yup, another early start and a busy day, but the night's still young as yet and you're nearly there, but watch out, watch out, there's a Ken about :)

Noyade 1st January 2012 22:19

American yes, civil yes, twin-booms no!
Single engine?

their next was to be a whole lot bigger and more!!
Am I going wrong here? I'm thinking B-36, XB-35, XB-42 sort of big? (as in pusher-props).

skytrain10 1st January 2012 22:30

stick on the same page
Convair 111 I guess?

SincoTC 1st January 2012 22:30

Yes mate, a single Continental C-65

Am I going wrong here? I'm thinking B-36
The only thing you're doing wrong is to go straight past my challenge, look UP ;), but not too far!

Edit: I see it's too late now and you can't say I didn't warn you :)

Air Car (Model 111) 1945 = 2pClwM; 65hp Continental C-65 pusher. POP: 1, based on the Gwinn Aircar
You crafty cropping bastard! :ok:

SincoTC 1st January 2012 22:37

Evening Ken,

No need to guess mate! It is the Convair 111 Aircar :D

skytrain10 has control :ok: (and very timely too as a neighbour has just called with New Year Greetings, so I'll have to go now). So Good Night gents and have a good day Graeme, hard luck mate, you were soooo close

skytrain10 1st January 2012 22:57

Thanks Trevor...here's the next one:

Closing down soon, so usual rules apply...if someone thinks they have it and it's supported by someone else please move on.

Noyade 2nd January 2012 08:47

Morning Ken.

Cleverly cropped and not the obvious? :)

skytrain10 2nd January 2012 09:32

Cleverly cropped and not the obvious?
Not sure about the clever bit, but probably not the obvious:)

A slightly expanded view:

Noyade 2nd January 2012 18:22

Evening Ken. Is it a Russian "Ekranoplan?"

skytrain10 2nd January 2012 20:42

Morning Graeme...not an Ekranoplan but a surprisingly common aircraft....in fact this would have made the Noyade500 :) You would be hard pushed to visit a major airport without seeing one of these aircraft :)

Noyade 2nd January 2012 20:55

I am a dejected man Ken. So no engines straddling a vertical fin?

skytrain10 2nd January 2012 21:45

You're drawing reminds me of the Fireflash in Thunderbirds
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...5eu9eLGkRzD0dg
But sadly nothing as exotic...in fact the aircraft is rather ordinary. Stand-by for another explanded pic.

skytrain10 2nd January 2012 21:53

Let's reveal a little more!

http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...r/3211049b.jpg

Civil aircraft, not military....and yes those are windows you can see!

Noyade 2nd January 2012 22:23

http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/382/img334v.jpg

Sorry Ken, just can't grasp what I'm looking at. Now it looks like two jet engines on TOP of the forward fuselage? Very clever challenge indeed.

You would be hard pushed to visit a major airport without seeing one of these aircraft
:(

Karlark 2nd January 2012 22:34

Must be an engine test bed... Boeing 757?

Edit: looks like it;
