Sorry - I think it may be limestone but not chalk |
Air raid shelter - think it was bombed several times. Area known for it's lethal products for many years

Right area but the airstrip is not Toledo
|
I've found the location of your picture, but no sign of an aerodrome. The town at the bottom is Corall de Almaguer, 40 nm east of Toledo.

Post #1114 above "Quite active at one time - in service for about 9-10 years before being returned to the land owners"
but I can't comment on the location for a while........................... ;) |
"Corall de Almaguer," Correct -
One of a large number of airfields built in the Civil War and now disappeared I was put onto it by an old friend in Madrid who is a member of GEFREMA - GRUPO DE STUDIOS DEL FRENTE DE MADRID https://www.gefrema.com who are devoted to such things Prof. Roberto Feliz Garcia has done a bucket load of work on military operations and his website https://vestigiosguerraciviltoledo.*...ealmaguer.html has a full lookup list of aerodromes and other military installations around Toledo EL CAMPO DE AVIACIÓN DE CORRAL DE ALMAGUER has a full history of the airfield but unfortunately few contemporaneous pics Over to India42 |
I see that PPRuNe still has it in for the "website that shall not be named". Here's a tiny URL: https://tinyurl.com/4yzaprzc and the picture from it:

'Pacemaker' and 'ticking over?'
Looks like somewhere in Indonesia but having never been there I haven't a clue so it might just as well be Christmas Hill near Marlow. |
Sorry Chevvron there are no clues in my verbose intro - as Peter Sellers recorded: "Takesnosnotice of extraneous trafficsnoise" (Followed by loud screech of brakes) certainly not Marlow and should you be tempted to try Booker it's not there either. They are not Chiltern Beeches.......
|
Philippines?
|
Sorry Chaps neither Indonesia or The Philippines
|
Are we in Asia?
|
Well I'm not and I don't think you are either.......

I suspect this is a strictly VFR arrival on a reciprocal to the first image...... Photo credit Gene Dershewitz 1994. |

Thanks Chevvron noted. This rather dull looking individual is the National Bird of the country concerned - it has something in common with our Blackbird on family matters.
