Correct - this is not Australia and I42 is correct that we are in Africa

It gets both wet and dry here - it's a bit more built-up since this picture was taken

Very long runway; long enough for a space shuttle to land?

Banjul/Yundum. Just north of here is the Abuko Nature Reserve where I spent a few minutes playing with a young gorilla in 1984.
OH if correct.

Now.... let us perform the usual incantations and spells .

The cars look American and are left hand drive. The road sign is not North American for that vintage The gentleman's hat is Hispano-Spanish

Throwing it into image processing software it looks as if the top direction on the left maybe Jamaica with a 3 digit number - let us be conservative and assume miles rather than kms so less than 1000 miles away.

4th Direction on the left may be Miami 4 digit number "Miami" and "jamaica" are roughly in the same direction

Most of the signs point in one direction with only a few at right angles or and only one in the other direction - so we're near the end of the line

Second on the right may be ??asaxxx possibly 29xx away in the opposite direction to Miami (more or less)

Third sign on the left may be Cama.. or Gama..... or Cartagena? ?1925 miles

I may be totally wrong but I suspected somewhere in Columbia or Venezuela - the old Bogota Techo Airfield but I'm not sure the tower is correct. On the other hand that post definitely has a crown on top - unlikely in Columbia or Venezuela but a possibility in the Dutch Caribbean and S American colonies....... princess juliana international airport in the Antilles had the right sort of tower

No idea about the correct distances.
Could sort it out but then I am doing your job.
Keep going along your clues

Curacao indeed!
Not by chance, but intended, just spend 10 days holiday there.

Lovely images.... the Airline Crest (KLM) atop the Signpost was vaguely familiar. Alas my challenge hardly qualifies, so little used is it as a strip for the flexiwing which lurks in the darkness of the little hangar and rarely sees the light of day

Man and Dog near threshold - Horse taxying towards intersection......

cavuman1 28th Apr 2022 00:34

It seems a place I would land in my dreams on an halcyon day, OUAQUKGF Ops! I would, however, be wrong should I guess. I would pat the dog, shake the man's hand, and ride off on the horse to find a lovely lady.

OUAQUKGF Ops 28th Apr 2022 06:44

Ed - chances are there is a lovely lady on that horse - I would have a carrot handy......

Asturias56 28th Apr 2022 07:38

Damn - I looked at Curacao but couldn't get a fit on the tower..............

Anyway - only two ladies n horseback come to mind

Lady Godiva and "Ride a cockhorse to Banbury Cross,To see a fine lady upon a white horse;Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,She shall have music wherever she goes".

it doesn't look like Coventry to me so it might well be Shotteswell/Church Farm - which is convenient for the British Microlight mob

chevvron 28th Apr 2022 11:17

Burrington radar?

OUAQUKGF Ops 28th Apr 2022 11:38

Sorry Chaps - not Shoteswell or Burrington. Horse completely incidental not a clue.

UV 28th Apr 2022 17:43

Loads of boring googling NATS Radio Stations eventually helped!
The sign points at Overstrand Village and Sea.

Looking at the area here are 2 small airfields. Cromer and Overstrand Ivy strip.
Both have two runways with very similar headings!
So first guess Northrepps Cromer.
OH if correct

chevvron 29th Apr 2022 13:17

Trimingham is the name of the NATS radar and Tx/Rx station near Overstrand.

OUAQUKGF Ops 30th Apr 2022 09:27

UV it's not Northrepps.

There was a slight mistake in the interpretation of posting times.
I got my access withdrawn and Ouaq was banned.
All sorted out now, apologies received but it is a fair warning to respect the 24hour rule with some margin to spare!

Now
it is time to wait till Ouaq sees his ban has been lifted.
Does somebody has his email?

I personally think the correct airfield has not yet been chosen.
