Well you know I was quite taken aback when I looked at Kharg Island because there are so many similarities with the island in question - I had hoped that MAC would cast his net a little wider because he was so nearly spot on. That said our island is not Iranian. Important to bear in mind that a new runway 2100m has recently been constructed here. The image I've used is of the old runway. I still wouldn't like to be a pax on a fully laden Tristar out of there on a very hot day !

Well done Descol ! I once, a long time ago, had a jolly to there in a Piper Navajo when it looked a bit more like this. For me the most interesting feature was the presence of nesting Ospreys.

1969 You can see the flares from the oil field. Years later the Sheikhs thought what a waste. We can bottle the gas !
