Cross Monoplane?
|
I for one believe you're on the money with the Cross Monoplane, Glevum. I never thought of crossing the Tasman. :(
|
My apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Yes, Glevum's got it.
The Cross Ladybird was built by David Cecil Cross, out of materials available to him in Chatton, Eastern Southland, New Zealand. Initial trials with a four cylinder motorcycle engine were not successful due to a lack of power. After re-engining with the engine from the 1911 Pither aeroplane, he did manage two flights breaking the undercarriage on landing the second time. After repairs he made several more flights but finally crashed in a turnip paddock injuring himself on the edges of the seat, made from an oil drum. Finally the authorities caught up with David Cross; earning him the distinction of being the first pilot to be prosecuted in New Zealand for flying without a licence. wiki takes us to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._configuration lateral behind wing gives us a manageable list to check on a cold wet afternoon - especially discarding things like the B-36 and all those German aircraft from WW1 and we find the Monsted-Vincent MV-1 Starflight https://eaavintage.org/april-2016-mystery-mv-1/ Hitherto unknown to almost all of us I'll bet! https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....bb6552254.jpeg |
After more than 60 years of aviation knowledge (well....), here is an aircraft I have never seen of heard of before. Miracles still exist!
|
Nice work Asturias.All yours.
|
I've had a bad run lately but even I could find a high wing 4 engine pusher eventually! Great challenge!!

Or Horsley...?

Not a Hart nor a Horsley
Flew with several different engines (but then most of them did in those far-off days) https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....887f417ffc.jpg |
