Fulbeck ??
|
Well that didn't last long! Fulbeck it is; originally a relief landing ground for RAFC Cranwell.
YHC. |
Wasn't absolutely sure 'cos I couldn't see the kart circuit, but that kink in the road along the remnants of the main runway (which I saw used for drag racing in '73) gave it away.
Open House. |

Gatow?
(and a few letters) |
Right country, wrong airfield.
|
Rechlin-Larz ?
|
Not Rechlin-Larz.
It probably doesn't help but the caption to this photo reads 'Four 658 Squadron Austers whose pilots accepted the surrender of [this airfield] in 1945. Four others are immediately following.' |
Celle perhaps?
|
Not Celle but certainly in the British Zone.
|
Thought this one would have gone by now.
This airfield together with its adjacent Marine Air Station and nearby naval dockyard were heavily bombed during the war. Contemporary photos are difficult to find on the net but I will post a modern-day shot (which will be searchable) if not guessed by Sunday midday-ish. |
Wild guess. Seefliegerhorst Großenbrode?
|
Another wild guess. Jever
|
Not Seefliegerhorst Großenbrode, although close to the subject airfield I don't think it's the same place.
Not Jever but it is also close geographically This is the airfield today... http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...irfield30a.jpg |
