I don't think there's a lot of malaria in Italy. The term malaria originates from Medieval Italian : mala aria—"bad air”; the disease was formerly called ague or marsh fever due to its association with swamps and marshland. |
Good morning, and there is the clue which is entirely of your making. Could have been fun were we in the same Time Zone.
Good morning.
Would that engineering have involved a drainage system ? |
The effect was drainage, the purpose was not. I believe that in this area the undertaking had two functions, transport and defence, and was undertaken long before Paludrine. I believe that those involved, not many kilometres away from the airfield, in later years played a major role in early military aviation.
The field itself was not used in its primary role, but soon found another divers role. |
Did you mean "divers role" or "diverse role" ?
Looks flat, so Europe low country ? |
Low country, not mainland Europe, and I don't make spelling mistakes, ho-ho.
Long delay, sorry, flu jab time.
The darkened fields look to me like burnt sugar cane. So possibly southern USA; Louisiana?
Russ |
Not USA I fear, deciduous arboreal vegetation I surmise.
Silly long shot - Danish island ?
Not a Danish island, keep diving.
Kalingrad....?
No Sycamore. Note my assertion that it is not mainland Europe.
Nevertheless, a European island ?
Thought on Sycamore's last - a bit of banter from Kalingrad would not entirely been out of place on this field.
Yes, in strict parlance an offshore island in Europe. No politics please!
Was that road in the top left previously a railway?
No. There has been for some time a light or miniature railway in the vicinity.
Oirland ?....
Not Ireland, but not far away.
