Then we better rephrase:

If the winner of the challenge does not respond to the notification of their success within 24 hours, an Open house can be declared when there is consensus between multiple other posters which are on line.

Likewise might be added:
When the poster of a challenge does not respond within 24 hours of a posted answer, this poster can be declared winner if the answer is considered correct in a consensus of multiple other posters.

I personnally try to give indication ahead when I might not be able to answer.
Or indicate OH in advance when correct.
My chance will come another time.

I would like to emphasise that I really like the challenges with multiple photos or clues.
I also value the remarks of other posters on the same airfield or the comparison between then and now.
In that regard Jenkins saved the day at Koffiefontein!

All the best for 2019!

Leicester Ratcliffe?

dook 31st Dec 2018 19:30

No but you have the right country.

ve3id 31st Dec 2018 20:56

I would say Biggin Hill but I don't have another one to post within 24 hours if I am right!

dook 31st Dec 2018 21:30

No problem because it's not Biggin Hill.

Peterborough Sibson? The hangar looks familiar.

dook 1st Jan 2019 09:07

It's not there either.

Bedfordshire perhaps...?

dook 1st Jan 2019 10:01

You need to go west.

Shackman 1st Jan 2019 10:14

Desford possibly - I seem to remember a control tower/lookout similar to the one in the picture.

dook 1st Jan 2019 10:38

Much too far north.

nvubu 1st Jan 2019 10:49

I reckon there is writing above the hangar doors and on the roof that has been painted out.

dook 1st Jan 2019 11:29

Not guilty your honour.

chevvron 1st Jan 2019 12:28

Hm, west of Bedford; south of Leicester.
How about Yate?

dook 1st Jan 2019 12:43

Now you're getting closer, but still too far north.

I learnt to fly here in 1965 and it looked just like that then. It no longer does.

chevvron 1st Jan 2019 13:12

Portsmouth?

dook 1st Jan 2019 13:15

Latitude is looking better but still too far east.

There was when I was there a naval presence though.

dook 1st Jan 2019 13:30

This was that connection.

Plymouth then?

dook 1st Jan 2019 13:58

Yes - Roborough as it was.

The photograph was taken on it's opening by the Prince of Wales in 1931.

The future Edward VIII was presented with a slver model of his Moth aeroplane. The ceremony had to take place in the council chamber as the prince couldn't fly in due to bad weather.

Please take the thread.
