dook 7th Apr 2018 10:40

Several thousand miles from Spain.

India Four Two 8th Apr 2018 08:29

Caribbean?

dook 8th Apr 2018 08:39

You are very close. Central America.

Heathrow Harry 8th Apr 2018 09:44

Sir Barry Bowen Belize Municipal Airport?

dook 8th Apr 2018 10:34

Good morning HH.

I am unable to find that airport by name.

However, an old retired ATC colleague says it is RAF Belize.

I therefore graciously hand you control.

Heathrow Harry 8th Apr 2018 10:43

Is it the same one? If so a complete punt and Open House.......

Sir Barry Bowen Municipal Airport (formerly Belize City Municipal Airport) (IATA: TZA) is an airport that serves Belize City, Belize. It is only one mile from the city center, and is therefore more centrally located to the city than is Belize City International Airport. It mostly services travel to Belize's cayes, allowing quicker arrivals to the cayes than by boat or water taxi. The airport is named after the Belizean politician and entrepreneur Barry Bowen.
In 2012, a project to upgrade and modernize the airport was initiated.[2] Improvements included extending the runway, constructing a new access road, adding a taxiway, and installing a new lighting system. The project was completed in November 2016 at a total cost of BZ$17 million.[3]
The head office of Maya Island Air is on the second floor of Building #1.[4] Tropic Air also has a terminal at this airport with multiple flights every day.

dook 8th Apr 2018 11:09

I believe the name is now Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport.

My erstwhile ex-colleague also says it was the site of Butcher Radar.

Heathrow Harry 8th Apr 2018 16:54

They are two seperate airports I believe - the International (ex RAF) one is slightly inland about 15 miles NW of the City - the Domestic ariport is in the sea on the beach in the city area...

But the towers look very similar...

So I was close but wrong...

looks relatively new.... Europe?

dook 9th Apr 2018 09:56

I see no image, just a dial and information that the poster's third party imaging has been disabled.

nvubu 9th Apr 2018 12:24

I could see the image this morning at home, cant see it at work or on my phone though.

Photobucket

India Four Two 9th Apr 2018 14:30

I’ve noticed that when a new Photobucket link is posted on PPRuNe, the picture is available for a while and then disappears, presumable when Photobucket’s server notices the third-party link.

grizzled,
Try using imgur.com.

dook 9th Apr 2018 14:38

Here is the challenge again.

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 14:48

Thanks India Four Two for the help and suggestion.

And thanks dook for re-posting

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 14:49

Harry, not Europe

dook 9th Apr 2018 14:52

USA maybe.

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 14:58

Nope, but closer to the USA than Europe...

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 15:24

If this view from downwind doesn`t do the trick within a day or so I`ll post a photo taken airside...

chevvron 9th Apr 2018 17:02

Banjul -Yundum Spaceport.

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 17:42

chevvron... nope, different continent ;)

nvubu 9th Apr 2018 18:46

New Zealand

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 18:58

nvubu, nope.

Not Asia-Pacific

dook 9th Apr 2018 19:23

Central or South America ?

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 19:26

dook...

yes -- one of those... ;)

dook 9th Apr 2018 19:27

Well, you said it is a continent so I'll shoot for South America.

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 19:45

Hmmmm.... OK... it`s on a continent that is not Africa

Shoot farther north

dook 9th Apr 2018 19:52

Don't get the Africa bit.

If I go north I end up in the continent of North America and you have said not USA.

Might it be Mexico or Canada ?

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 20:02

I said it was`one of those`when you asked whether it was Central or South America. Then, when you said you`d shoot for South America I said `shoot farther north`

I think that`s all pretty clear...

:)

(the Africa bit was in reference to chevvron`s guess re Yundum)

dook 9th Apr 2018 20:12

So the continent of North America which includes the seven central American countries.

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 20:35

dook

I was going to answer with a `thumbs up` icon but apparently that isn`t allowed by itelf, as the message is too short.

So I won`t... :)

dook 9th Apr 2018 20:47

........:ok:

Aeropuerto Internacional Ramon Villeda Morales, AKA Las Messa Airport, ICAO: MHLM, San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 21:12

evansb has it!

Sadly, San Pedro Sula is NOT a place you want to spend any time. One of the most violent and lawless places in the world (of which Central America and Mexico have more than their share...)

Take it away evansb!

grizzled 9th Apr 2018 21:15

I guess I'm just getting too old and cranky for image posting on pprune. I tried to post an airside image with imgur and it's just showing the link, not the photo (for me, anyway...)

grizz

evansb 9th Apr 2018 21:20

Open house.

Just set up a Pprune album in user cp

The mods are trying to improve the loading of images from 3rd party sites but it's very very hit and miss

grizzled 10th Apr 2018 15:41

Thanks HH!
