Wapiti/Afghanistan?

ea200 28th Nov 2018 17:16

Somewhere on the Sub-Continent I suppose. Wapitis were in what is now Pakistan I think, but it's not Risalpur. Is the river the Indus?

JENKINS 28th Nov 2018 17:22

Pure luck by starting off in the right place, oil and gas helped. Kamloops BC?

dook 28th Nov 2018 17:56

Well spotted Jenks.

New balls please.

Thanks. Judwin's best gave the 'elk' clue and so Canada, with the tank complex sending me after oil and gas therein, really lucky.

So this one, a single visit, just like Judwin. Machine was here for routine servicing.

dook 28th Nov 2018 18:46

Wheressa pic....?

JENKINS 28th Nov 2018 19:17

Oops, bit high on round-out? Sorry.

dook 28th Nov 2018 19:33

Looks like a fairly big airfield and I can't see any passenger-handling buildings so I imagine maintenance only.

Australia ?

JENKINS 28th Nov 2018 19:43

General Aviation, Training, Maintenance, and so on. A War of Independence in its past. My own visit allowed me a easy afternoon before my continued odyssey the next day. Hotac in nearby city, bit of a raffle as to which I chose, bit better than the night before.

dook 28th Nov 2018 19:49

That makes me think of the USA.

JENKINS 28th Nov 2018 19:59

A little known War, not American. One clue missed, but keep lookng. Amy and Jason visited, Kate and Val came later.

dook 28th Nov 2018 20:17

Turkey or possibly Mexico.

dook 28th Nov 2018 20:22

Hang on - I'm thinking aircraft and I've already asked about Australia.

JENKINS 28th Nov 2018 20:33

Yes to aircraft-thinking, bit far out on locations even if in-between two.

Amy Johnson flying in 'Jason'

dook 28th Nov 2018 20:39

That's why I suggested Australia.

The other two are WW2 Japanese aircraft.

dook 28th Nov 2018 20:47

Amy had several refuelling stops in Indonesia.

sycamore 28th Nov 2018 20:48

Another couple of Judwin`s finest operated here, until one retired gracefully......! and I got a weeks OO...amongst other things....

JENKINS 28th Nov 2018 20:49

Pretty good, little bit of refinement and you will be there. There are others of this parish who should be more familiar.

JENKINS 28th Nov 2018 20:51

Have just seen the Sycamore response, so come on old bean, tell us and I can go to bed. Be quick, because dook is closing in.

dook 28th Nov 2018 20:53

After over two decades of flying I have no idea who or what Judwin is/was.

Are you referring to the post by sycamore or me ?

sycamore 28th Nov 2018 21:04

Jenks,a couple of medals, a`Mention`,a! weeks OO(later rescinded),and a wife.....!(not all at the same time)..

dook-eghg

JENKINS 28th Nov 2018 21:13

Resolution -- Judwin is the home of the former Westland factory in Yeovil. Very good grass field. Sycamore is teasing us, since he knows that I know that he knows it is Seletar. I think that if there is no further, he will be declaring OH, I hope there has been some head -scratching over the topic. Sorry to tantalise, dook, but you were doing very well.

'Raffle' was missed, Singapore of course. The War of Independence was post WW2 against the Dutch in their East India colony. I had a machine needing a 50-hour, arriving from Penang and departing for Bali, following Amy and Jason perhaps.

Bedtime.

sycamore 28th Nov 2018 21:21

Over to you `dook`,or OH....

dook 28th Nov 2018 21:32

I have several lined up but am going to bed shortly and will be unable to monitor until the UK morning.

I'm happy to post if that is accepted.

dook 29th Nov 2018 10:04

Good morning everyone.

nvubu 29th Nov 2018 12:05

I'll start with Feltwell ?

dook 29th Nov 2018 12:06

Sorry but no.

Duchess_Driver 29th Nov 2018 14:49

Barford St. John?

dook 29th Nov 2018 14:54

Not there either.

In fact not UK.

JENKINS 29th Nov 2018 15:21

Many fields were created in the low-lying Foggia area of Italy. The USAAF named theirs individually, but all I can find of this is the name Foggia Main. Recent reading gave me the idea after your note that 'twas not UK.

dook 29th Nov 2018 15:41

Well, I have the caption as Foggia Main.

Your peasouper.

JENKINS 29th Nov 2018 16:07

Thanks, 40 Squadron perhaps. Very busy airspace. Not so busy at this next, though on my sole visit on a murky day there was much craning https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....1fee322fe2.jpg
to ensure my safe arrival.

dook 29th Nov 2018 16:32

Craning wouldn't have been necks methinks.

Unless you were flying a seaplane.

JENKINS 29th Nov 2018 17:22

It was my neck in the midst of the big but non-flying cranes.

Asturias56 29th Nov 2018 17:59

Florida?? Or loooeeeezzEEannnaaa??

dook 29th Nov 2018 18:16

The shadows certainly indicate it's lowish latitude.

JENKINS 29th Nov 2018 19:32

Two Degrees 25 minutes North of my spot in Wessex. Very murky on my one trip.

dook 29th Nov 2018 19:35

145 nm north of where ? Stuck in neutral again.

JENKINS 29th Nov 2018 19:58

Wessex in general, a former HMS Flycatcher from a former existence nearby. This, of course, simply in latitude rather than a direct line.
