Sorry not Oahu.

Understand the logic of the two previous suggestions but the pic was not taken in late 1941 or in 1942.

Are those Japanese flying boats?
Cannot personally put a name to the aircraft types but they are highly unlikely to be Japanese.
Marignane, France ?
No, but a lot, lot warmer.
Regarding the aircraft type, further research would indicate (I put it no stronger) that the most visible machine is likely to be a Martin Marlin.
I hope I do not get a barrage of abuse if I'm wrong. |
I think the flying boat is a Nord 1401 Noroit. The location is the flood damaged French Naval base at Frejus-St.Raphael. On December 2nd, 1959, the Malpasset dam burst causing wide-spread flooding, which included the water aerodrome pictured.
I bow to you in regard to the aircraft type. Your identification of Frejus-St Raphael after the dam burst (barrage - geddit?) is entirely correct and you have control.
Thank you. An absolutely superb challenge! Here is the next mystery aerodrome:

Pisa,Italy.
Yes, you are correct. I too, have suspicions you may be a hacker. You have control.
Many thanks,Brian. for your kind words. P.M. for you.
Open House,as it is not really worth the angst and puerile comments. |
You are too fast for us mere mortals. You must be a savant. You seldom, if ever ask questions, and rarely express any doubt about your answers. You dominate the thread in this category. Take it as a complement. I am in awe if you are real. So there!

As its still OH....

North Africa ?
Well, have to try the obvious one first. Cairo?
'b |
Not Cairo or anywhere else in North Africa
West Africa, perhaps?
It is West Africa
