nascence
Good word! Had to Google it. :)

Interesting. Built but not flown - I thought that would be a very rare thing these days? And it looks like a substantial machine - a tandem piston engine trainer?

From a country outside of the USA?
And did this manufacturer have success with other aircraft designs?

(objection your honor - badgering the challenger!)

TheiC 15th Oct 2013 19:53

[clears throat; stands; faces Bench]

It might help the understanding of the court if I were to interject, with your Honour's permission, and say that it would not be true to say that this aircraft was built but not flown.

[sits]

Let me guess, His Honour Judge Noyade reaches for the black cap any time now!

TheiC 15th Oct 2013 20:00

...and for completeness:

a tandem piston engine trainer
...is partially true but not completely true

From a country outside of the USA
...is true

And did this manufacturer have success with other aircraft designs?
Yes it did.

Further research on the subject aircraft this evening has made things less, not more, clear!

Noyade 15th Oct 2013 20:06

You sound like an unreliable witness! :)

Trying to think outside the circle here. Are you possibly suggesting it's pilotless? Not flown buy a pilot inside it? A drone/UAV thingy?

TheiC 15th Oct 2013 20:13

No to all the above.

I remember a lovely crossword clue in a comedy programme on the TV here. One character was an absolute demon at crossword puzzles, but failed miserably at one clue which his colleagues all got first time. It got right under his skin.

His problem was, he kept looking but not seeing.

This was the clue:

GEGS (9,4)

...and with that in mind, I say again:

it was not a project
:)

This was the clue: GEGS (9,4)
Mate, anyone who uses nascence in everyday talk is way smarter than me, and now crossword clues? :)

Gonna make another coffee and ponder this. The witness can step down...

Noyade 16th Oct 2013 02:35

His problem was, he kept looking but not seeing.
So I'm missing something that should be glaringly obvious? Hmmm....
Are we looking at an up and coming Asian country?

TheiC 16th Oct 2013 03:15

Not missing something, exactly...

No, not Asia... The country of origin is listed by the IMF as an emerging economy but other groups of analysts disagree.

Noyade 16th Oct 2013 03:22

Wow, 0320 hrs and you're still awake?! Now that is Silhouette Challenge dedication! :ok:

I'll leave you be, and keep pondering.....

TheiC 16th Oct 2013 07:01

Up early rather than still awake... But only to investigate why the security lights went on outside.

I'm afraid it's not the Epsilon.

This aircraft has not flown.

UNASUR-1/IA-73 ? Scrambled eggs ?

TheiC 16th Oct 2013 18:35

Well done!

Spot on on both counts. It's the IA73, which now looks as though it will proceed as the UNASUR 1 with collaboration of several South America states.

You have control!

evansb 16th Oct 2013 19:54

Thanks! That was an interesting challenge.

Not a silhouette, but here is the next mystery aeroplane:

UNASUR-1/IA-73
Nicely done Brian! But what was the scrambled eggs connection?

Your latest > A project? Grumman or possibly Russian? Or maybe Mexican?

TheiC 16th Oct 2013 20:19

Graeme, sorry you missed it after all your hard work...

GEGS = scrambled eggs

Noyade 16th Oct 2013 20:27

GEGS = scrambled eggs
Thanks TheiC, I sorta got that - but was there any connection to the IA-73?
(I gotta know/remember these things for next time. :))

evansb 16th Oct 2013 20:29

It was a Mexican design.

Noyade 16th Oct 2013 20:39

It was a Mexican design.
Thanks. Maybe this mate?

evansb 16th Oct 2013 20:52

Yes, the T.N.C.A. MTW-1. Sorry if it was posted before. You are in control!

Noyade 16th Oct 2013 21:09

Thanks Brian.

Sorry if it was posted before.
No need to be sorry, I don't think it matters anymore mate.

This was gonna be a What Aerodrome contestant, but Google Image kept finding it so I applied the old 'photograph the monitor' technique to beat it. A little blurry and in the end I thought it wasn't very 'airporty' but the aircraft is interesting, so here we go...
