....MiG-8?

heshamh 11th Jan 2013 23:18

Thank you Karlark.

....MiG-8?
G'day Karl. :) I suspect less well known than the MiG mate. Only one built and and I found only one site on the net where it was shown, where the poor guy who built it is/was trying to sell the project - possibly in the early 2000s. This dates back to the late nineties from the USA and was powered by a 118 hp Subaru engine. It was based on another American untralight from the eighties called the Falcon.

If no luck, let me know and I will reveal this and move on. Cheers.

You're welcome, hhh.

....MiG-8?
Ok, that was a fanciful guess. How about the Specter Falcon, instead?

Edit: Thanks for the clues Graeme.... but found it the hard way, before I saw your latest post :ugh:. :)

Specter Falcon
Well done mate. :ok:

Specter Falcon

Your control.

(Aren't SPECTER always trying to take over the World and kill James Bond? :))

Karlark 12th Jan 2013 04:21

I think that was SPECTRE... there were SMERSH, as well :):

Another Russian Karl?
Project?

heshamh 12th Jan 2013 12:03

May be it was De Monge project.

Karlark 12th Jan 2013 15:46

Russian - Yes. One prototype built and flew.

carson1934 12th Jan 2013 21:06

Maybe Grokhovski G37?

Hi Karl. :)

Another case where you think "nah, it can't possibly look like that from the top" and move fruitlessly onwards.

I went past it I think 3 times last night. This morning I thought "what the heck", Googled it and found your line drawing in a downloadable copy of "Soviet X-Planes".

Life is sweet when than happens, but I'm a simple man. Cheers! :)

Too much monologue Graeme - just aim, shoot, double-tap and take the money!

Well done Carson!

Karlark 12th Jan 2013 22:06

Well done Gents, it is the Grokhovsky G-37 container prototype :ok::ok:.

The old Soviet X-plane issue is one of my favorites.

Carson 1934's control

OH please I'm now in hospital and unable to access my documentation....
Cheers

Open House? Here is one to keep the thread moving:-
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...ps33fb2ed0.jpg

Have tried to post several challenges on "What Cockpit" but all could be found doing a search on Google Image. I really think the availability of Google Image is killing off these quiz type threads. Is there a method of blocking such access?

Noyade 15th Jan 2013 09:00

Good morning Mel. :)

Are we looking forward on the Lockheed Ventura/Harpoon? Are those hurricane whipped palms in the distance?

I wouldn't think so mate.

It's hard to beat - I've tried sepia, painting black patches on the corners, various lines across the image (bit rude to horizontally rotate a cockpit image or make it a silhouette :)) but nothing seems to get by it. I've even cropped a net image by 75% and it still finds it. Other than something you have that has never been uploaded I can't think of anything else.

I'm now in hospital
I hope you're on the mend mate. :ok:

Cheers.

Is there a method of blocking such access?
Morning Mel.

It can't be blocked but there is a way to stop it finding images providing you are adept with Photoshop. I have managed it on several occasions. Mind you, if the person trying to identify the image has Photoshop as well, it is possible to undo your efforts.

MReyn24050 15th Jan 2013 09:32

Graeme, you have it the Lockheed PV-1 Ventura. You have control.

David and Graeme thanks for your comments re-blocking Google Image searches. Someone on line suggested adding a watermark but not sure how one would do that or what effect that would have.

Noyade 15th Jan 2013 09:59

Thanks Mel. I was initially hunting for Germans.

Of course you could just run with boring old silhouettes - very hard to trace back, especially when they weren't even taken from the net...:ok:
