what is that aircraft behind Gregory Peck?

BEA Ambassador G-AMAC, perhaps?

one11 13th Dec 2012 13:54

BEA Ambassador G-AMAC
Confirmed - will watch out for the outlet to the right of the "C" to appear in the "Challenge" thread.

And for the glider ....another General Aircraft product. The Hamilcar.

Noyade 13th Dec 2012 19:02

Thanks for the Ambassador identification gents. :ok:
Looks like Peck could have been one himself...

Peck revealed that former President Lyndon Johnson had told him that, had he sought re-election in 1968, he intended to offer Peck the post of U.S. ambassador to Ireland
Doug, well done, the Hamilcar it is. Your control. :ok:

No silhouettes, zooms, or odd bits, just an aeroplane - though a bit fuzzy

If in doubt, try to look intelligent, by asking if it's European or from the USA?

:)

one11 14th Dec 2012 12:06

Hi Graeme

it's European

one11 14th Dec 2012 20:57

Approaching 24 hrs, so clue time. An early product of a designer who went on to create many much more elegant , mainly single engine touring/training, aircraft of conventional appearance for several companies.

Of which this is probably the best known......but you still have to identify the original post as well.

Noyade 15th Dec 2012 19:23

Thanks for the clues Doug! :)
Then most likely...

F.M.1 Passero

one11 15th Dec 2012 20:20

Thats the one Graeme. You have control ....hope you can flush out some more competitors.

Noyade 15th Dec 2012 21:08

Thanks Doug, wouldn't have got there without the "explicit" clues. :)

hope you can flush out some more competitors.
Unlikely mate. I'd love to discuss a few ideas over some "pints" with you, but in the end I think enthusiasm for these threads has waned. Still, I'm happy to chip away till the Mods close them.

So until then...

Karlark 16th Dec 2012 03:45

Hi Graeme,

Is that a 5 cylinder Mongoose engine there in that aircraft?

irishair2001 16th Dec 2012 07:26

Hi Graham, Is it the Siddeley Siskin ?

Noyade 16th Dec 2012 08:11

G'day gentlemen. :)

It's an Armstrong Siddeley Genet IIA 5-cyl aircooled radial of 80 hp.

And it's a British biplane.

one11 16th Dec 2012 12:35

Robinson Redwing II

Noyade 16th Dec 2012 21:32

That's the one Doug. Your control. :)

Lightning Mate 19th Dec 2012 09:43

Did you get anywhere with my PM mate?

carson1934 19th Dec 2012 10:23

one11 19th Dec 2012 14:06

i have this version as the Mak 123 from 1947 . Actually after posting I found a lot of info on Makhonine designs postaed by Graeme (Noyade) on another forum five years back which also gives this as a 123 ..............but near enough Carson123 so you have control.

LM - yes seen PM - reply to follow.
